Name: Amethyst

Amethyst was launched in 1990 and used to transfer tourists between the Whitsunday islands and the mainland. In 2005, she was purchased privately and converted for recreational use. In April 2020, she underwent a full refit and re-power for use as an amazing holiday home on the water. She is currently moored at Hope Island Marina and is approved for live aboard. The berth is available for rent to the new owner (currently $870 per month including power and water). Being a power cat, insurance is easy, and she offers comfortable cruising inshore and offshore.

Amethyst has recently undergone a complete refit and redesign, boasting bright open-plan living and entertaining with all the modern amenities. All original plumbing, electrical, hydraulic systems, cabling, and engines/transmissions were removed and replaced to provide many years of trouble-free motoring. All work was completed by professional trades at The Boat Works.

Brief Description:
o Cougar Catamarans were built on the Gold Coast. All Cougar Cats were custom-built to order, so no two boats are the same. They are still used as commercial ferries, whale watch tour boats, Coast Guard rescue boats, and recreational boats throughout Australia and overseas.
o Amethyst has a large flybridge and dual controls (upper and lower helms).
o Twin diesel inboard engines and electric bow thruster.

o Engines: 2008 Twin Yanmar 4LHA STP 240hp turbo diesel intercooled motors. Repowered in 2020 by RT Marine. New 80 amp alternators fitted in 2020.
o Transmissions: Zenith ZF, 2.5:1 ratio (new in 2020).
o Speed: Effortless economical cruising of 10 knots at 2000 rpm or 15 knots at 2400 rpm. Top Speed/WOT 18-20 knots at 3300rpm.
o Propellers: 4 blade - protected by keels.
o Steering: Hydraulic (new in 2020).
o Bow thruster (electric) with independent 200 amp hour battery and Victron charger (new in 2020).

Electrical:
o 2x 150 amp hour heavy duty marine start batteries (new in 2022). Independent Victron chargers connected to each battery with bluetooth monitoring.
o 800 amp hour GEL house batteries (new in 2020).
o Victron Multiplus 120 amp battery charger with 3000 watt inverter, full Victron battery management system with control panel and remote monitoring (via smartphone). New in 2020. Ready for solar!
o 2x DC-DC chargers to allow smart charging of house battery bank and bow thruster battery when underway.
o Newly installed and compliant 240-volt system with safety switch and circuit breaker protection.

Tanks:
o Fuel: 2 x 600 litre integrated diesel tanks with inspection ports.
o Fresh water: 2x 350 litre integrated tanks. Re-sealed, new plumbing and freshwater pump installed in 2020.
o Waste: 500 litre waste holding tank with deck fitting for pump out and macerator (new in 2020).
