Custodian Classic Boat Sales is honoured to introduce the magnificent 65ft Huon Pine Motor Launch, JLeeM.

JLeeM represents the very best of Tasmania, both in her timbers and her superb construction!

In December 1982, JLeeM's played a significant part in the saving of the Franklin River by ferrying protesters and supplies up the Gordon River to Warner's Landing, a brave and contentious move at the time.

After 70 years of caring ownership by the Morrison family of Tasmania, JLeeM is now looking for a new custodian.
Built in 1953 for Reg Morrison from a design by Max Creese, the hull was built by Jim Jones of Triabunna and then taken to Battery Point where Jock Muir completed her superstructure.
Constructed from stem to stern with the finest boat building timber on the planet, the now rare and precious, Tasmanian Huon Pine (Lagarostrobos Franklinii), harvested by the Morrison family from leases along the Sprent River above the Gordon River on the West Coast of Tasmania. JLeeM's Huon Pine planking is a remarkable 1.5 inches in thickness.

Reg Morrison named his new boat after his beloved mother and father James and Lee Morrison.

Originally built as an all purpose vessel for the family timber trade and the tourist trade along the Gordon River and Macquarie Harbour. As the summer tourist trade along the Gordon increased in popularity, in 1958 Reg had JLeeM lengthened by 9 feet by Jack Behrens, shipwright of Prince of Wales Bay.
As well as adding 9 feet to JLeeM's stern, Reg removed her 6 cylinder Gardener engine and replaced it with a new 6L3 Gardener engine, which still propels her beautifully today.

Today JLeeM' has retired from the tourist trade and has been maintained to a high standard as a pleasure boat for the Morrison family and is currently moored at Kettering Marina.

JLeeM features include a large skippers cabin forward which then leads down to the engine room. The wheelhouse above deck affords a commanding view and features a comfortable saloon with views forward and aft. The aft cabin is huge and after stepping down the companionway you enter another lounge saloon before proceeding forward into the passengers area with toilet and a large galley.

Recently slipped and antifouled JLeeM is ready to again take passengers or she would make a wonderful and spacious family launch.
As mentioned JLeeM is powered by a single 6L3 Gardener in beautiful condition and 240 volt power is supplied by a MZANSI Generator.

If a new custodian wishes to keep JLeeM in Kettering Tasmania, the current marina pen is available for continued use. Also JLeeM's mooring in Kettering Bay is also available to purchase with the boat if required.
Viewing of JLeeM is available on appointment at Kettering Marina Tasmania.

The sum of $150,000 AUS is being asked for the ownership of JLeeM and Interested parties can contact: Colin Grazules on or Iefke Van Gogh on or contact Custodian Classic Boat Sales on FB Messenger or email gmail. Com
