' Shiralee " was built by fisherman/boatbuilder, Mick Emery and was launched at Devonport in 2000 after a 30 year build. She is one of the very last all Huon Pine constructed boats to be built in Tasmania. Splined hull planking is 30mm thick with 32mm thick decks. Bullwarks, stanchions, bulkheads, cappings and some framing is all Huon Pine.
The engine room was set up for a Gardner engine but economies prevailed and the ever reliable Lister Diesel with a Lister Box was fitted.
Primarily built for family fishing adventures and was not used commercially.
Accomodation for two in the focastle with galley and table.
Amidships is a dry hold used for storage and contains water tanks and a Jabsco toilet.
The wheelhouse has comfortable seating for up to three with access to the engine room through a hatch in the floor. The engine room is spacious for a 32ft. Vessel and there is all round engine access.
A recently built 9ft timber clinker dinghy swings off the stainless steel davits at the transom.
A go anywhere vessel has a good set of sails and with the correct maintenance will last generations. A reluctant sale due to family business committments and the elder maintenance Shipwright is retiring.
