Alexander Marine are pleased to present the immaculately maintained 2013/2022 Expedition Charter Motor Yacht 'Segara' to the market as worldwide central agents.
'Segara' is an all-aluminium motor yacht built in Western Australia, based on a respected Mark Ellis design, and launched in 2013. Under current ownership, she underwent significant engineering and cosmetic refits throughout 2022. Designed for extended operation, 'Segara' has an impressive recent cruising history, she has circumnavigated Australia multiple times and has extensively cruised the Queensland and Kimberley coastlines. She offers impressive volume for her waterline length, and her straightforward design and engineering systems make her economical to own and operate for a vessel of her size.
'Segara' is in AMSA survey classes 1D (36 passengers + 6 crew) and 2B (9 passengers + 3 crew), presenting her turn-key ready for charter operations or private expeditions. She is maintained by a dedicated live-aboard crew including a captain, deckhand, and chef providing expert navigation and personalised guest care for a seamless experience onboard.
As you step aboard 'Segara' her 7.4m beam immediately stands out. This sense of space is equally evident in the engine room, where the supersized machinery space makes it a dream for anyone working in this area - this is truly the best engine room in her class. Under her current ownership, a 240v Marine Air Flow International mechanical ventilation system was installed in the engine room and separately in the lazarette to maximize airflow.
Her exterior decks were installed with durable ultra-low maintenance cork decking. She features walk-around side decks which are great for passengers and crew to safely move about, while up at the bow, a sizable stand-up bosuns locker is a great space for storing all cruising essentials such as deck gear, spare lines, inflatable water toys, crab pots and fold-up bikes. The forward bosuns locker also features an additional two top-loading Haier 101 litre freezers (note there is a massive amount of freezer space throughout the vessel) and a Manitowoc 31kg per day ice maker to compliment the Vitrifrigo ice maker in the cockpit bar.
Back in the cockpit, in the forward portside corner, guests can enjoy a beverage from the cockpit bar complete with stunning engineered stone waterfall benchtops. The bar equipment includes a Hisense 46-bottle capacity wine cooler, filtered "Billi" tap dispensing filtered sparkling or still chilled water, Vitrifrigo ice maker, and multiple drawers housing dedicated glass storage in custom made glass racks, and a handy slide out rubbish bin system. Between the bar and the aft galley (which is positioned just inside the saloon door), a nifty electric window within the aft saloon bulkhead lowers to connect the galley to the cockpit. Adjacent to the bar is a Schmick two-door under bench beverage refrigerator.
Across the aft of the cockpit guests can enjoy a drink or meal around the fixed U-shaped seating set around two engineered stone tables. This area is well protected from the elements by way of the overhead boat deck and roll up/roll down shade mesh and privacy screens to three sides of the cockpit. In really blustery conditions, zip-in fabric side deck wing doors can further isolate the cockpit from the weather elements. A cockpit bosuns locker is present and is a handy storage location in this area of the vessel.
Entry to the saloon is via an electric sliding glass door, with additional access from the starboard walk-around side deck amidships. The U-shaped galley is immediately to port, complemented by a butler's pantry and a full-height fridge and separate freezer to starboard. Featuring engineered stone waterfall benchtops and modern appliances, the galley includes a custom-built 654-liter refrigerator and an 812-liter freezer (new in 2024) for ample storage of fresh provisions and frozen goods. In addition to the previously mentioned freezer capacity in the bosuns locker there is also yet another 101-liter top-loading freezer on the boat deck against the skylounge rear bulkhead.
Moving forward, the saloon opens to a spacious interior with a portside L-shaped lounging area and formal dining to starboard. The durable timber-look vinyl flooring features a Sisal inlay in the lounge area, while frameless glass windows flood the space with natural light. A 55" Samsung Frame TV is mounted on the forward bulkhead, with Starlink for streaming and Foxtel Satellite TV wired to the saloon and master cabin TV's. A Fusion stereo system serves the saloon, cockpit, and boat deck. The formal dining table, in the same engineered stone as the galley benchtops comfortably seats eight. An internal bar in front of the dining area includes a Hisense 46 bottle capacity wine cooler, alcohol cabinet, and overhead glass storage with a champagne flute rack!
From the forward centreline of the saloon, you enter the on-deck master. For a vessel of her size, this is a rare gem (and is well suited to older charter guests and owners to avoid using steps). It is a spacious cabin with a super king-sized island bed, walk-in robe, and generous head complete with a frameless glass shower screen. This cabin is complete with a work station, a 50" Samsung Frame TV and its own dedicated Fusion stereo system.
From the starboard forward corner of the saloon, access is possible down to the lower deck accommodation. The lower deck accommodation accommodates six guests in three spacious staterooms, plus a lower deck crew cabin. The lower deck guest cabins include two mirrored double cabins aft with queen size island beds - both cabins feature hull-side picture windows allowing natural light and a connection with the sea. The forward VIP cabin features an island queen size bed and a huge bathroom. The lower deck guest cabins each have their own ensuite featuring vinyl planked timber flooring, separate frameless glass shower screen and modern tapware. And finally, a portside cabin currently used for crew accommodation features a double bed running fore and aft, a single berth running athwartships, and a powder room.
Internal access to the skylounge and helm is via a curved open-tread staircase to port, between the galley and L-shaped lounge. Alternatively, a wide external staircase from the cockpit also leads up top. The enclosed skylounge features an L-shaped settee with a hi/lo table that converts to a bed, a centreline helm seat, a 50" Frame TV, bar fridge, and microwave. The captain's cabin, which features two single berths, storage, and a hanging locker, is in the rear starboard corner. The skylounge is complete with a head and separate shower in the port rear corner which doubles as a day head. The skylounge opens onto the boat deck, which also has cork decking, a custom hydraulic davit (with press button luffing, jibbing and lifting), tie-down points for toys, and a ULP jerry can storage rack. 'Segara' carries a 4.7m Gemini RIB with a 60hp Honda four-stroke, stored on the boat deck or swim platform with a removable cradle system in each location. There's also room for a Jet Ski or second tender.
Water toys onboard 'Segara' include two glass bottomed Kayaks which stow up on the roof or dedicated storage brackets, inflatable stand up paddle boards, Lilypad, Sea Bob, Seadoo Spark Jet Ski, Bauer Junior Dive Compressor and four aluminium scuba tanks. That will keep everyone busy!
The lazarette and machinery spaces are extremely generous, with excellent serviceability due to ample room and smart design choices, such as minimizing the quantity of thru-hull raw water intake points for the entire vessel. She carries a wide range of spare parts to handle most maintenance issues at sea without needing to return to port. 'Segara' is powered by modest twin 715hp Caterpillar C-12 engines which are well suited to long-range cruising between 9 - 11 knots (while surprisingly can push 'Segara' to a sprightly 18 plus knots when lightship). Twin Caterpillar generators take care of the onboard power requirements when away from the dock. Hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, and a wired docking remote, are on-hand to assist with docking.
'Segara' delivers impressive performance, cruising at around 10 knots with excellent fuel efficiency (speeds not achievable in a full displacement hull). On various ultra-long passages her proven fuel economy is remarkable. She transited from Fremantle to Coomera when purchased, effectively non-stop and without refuelling, consuming effectively 2/3rds of her total tankage. Coomera to Darwin non-stop was half a tank! Coomera to Hobart, again non-stop, was just 6500 litres at an average of 11 knots for the entire passage! This is amazing fuel economy for a vessel of her size and waterline length. With a 22,000 litre capacity, she can also refuel diesel tenders and game fishing vessels at sea via a metered transfer pump.
'Segara' has enjoyed comprehensive electrical and electronics upgrades during her current ownership. Her navigation hardware now includes a late model Furuno electronics package which display on five 19" commercial Hatteland screens - electronics redundancy includes two separate navigation packages and two Furuno radars. A CCTV system gives the captain a bird's eye view of critical areas of the vessel, including a 360 degree controllable camera mounted high up on the mast. Starlink satellite internet with the marine antenna keeps the vessel and everyone onboard connected to the outside world wherever you roam.
Under the current ownership Humphree zero speed electric fin stabilisers were installed providing stabilisation underway and at rest for maximum guest and crew comfort.
In terms of engineering simplicity, the galley's air-cooled refrigeration compressors simplify maintenance by eliminating the need for water-cooled pumps. An added benefit is that the refrigeration can stay operational while the vessel is on the hardstand during maintenance periods. The Daiken commercial air conditioning systems are also air-cooled (again for lower maintenance, and can still be used when the vessel is on the hardstand for maintenance). Her black water system is all gravity fed, and so is her fuel system. All so simples!!
Her underwater profile features propeller shafts housed in bilge keels, eliminating exposed shafts. The rudders are supported by a shoe extending from the base of the bilge keel, offering maximum protection in case of grounding.
Her anchoring gear features a Maxwell hydraulic windlass with a robust 130kg/286lb Ultra S/S anchor. For redundancy her anchor winch can be powered by a standalone three-phase hydraulic pump if a PTO failure occurs. She has two water makers for extended trips, and pre-plumbed and pre-wired redundant grey and fresh water pump systems, dual electric and heat exchanger type hot water services, and multiple Victron battery chargers including a 5000W Victron Inverter/Charger that can charge different battery banks when needed. In short 'Segara' enjoys lots of system redundancy!
'Segara' maintenance and general operations are recorded within the cloud-based vessel management software Sea-Flux, allowing you to log services, track parts, send maintenance reminders, store documentation, and offer remote access for efficient, real-time vessel management ensuring well-documented upkeep for peace of mind on every voyage.
You are invited to book a private inspection to view this vessel which is currently cruising the East Coast of Australia. If you are unable to travel to inspect this vessel, we would be pleased to offer you a personal guided video tour via telephone with one of our yacht consultants.
