The iconic aft cockpit motor yacht, this Fairey Huntsman 28 will become part of her next owners family as she has done for her previous owners. Designed originally by Ray Hunt and modified by Alan V. Burnard of Fairey Marine in Hamble, the Fairey Huntsman 28 is renowned for very superior handling characteristics and seakeeping. During the late 1960s and 1970s they were raced highly successfully offshore and gained many trophies. Built in 1969, this is Hull number 112 and is powered by a pair of Perkins 145Hp T6354 contra rotating engines. (The original engines) Both engines have been removed over the past few years and all ancillary equipment removed and refurbished where required, including new hoses, heat exchanges cleaned through, new belts and have been fully serviced. The boat was lifted out of the water in May 2024 for new antifouling and anodes. She also benefits from new exterior varnish work and the coachroof has been repainted in May 2024 as well. DescriptionConstruction Hull is of 7 x 1/8" laminations of Agba mahogany glued, compressed and baked together. Superstructure is of marine ply with teak laid decks over marine ply base. Cockpit floor is teak. Accommodation The cabin is entered through a central door and down a step. To port is the toilet compartment with its electric sea toilet mounted on a plinth outboard under the side deck and a wash basin above. On the after bulkhead is a panel giving access to the back of the instrument panel at the helm position. Full standing headroom is available. To starboard of the companionway is the galley with its sink, fresh water tap, double stove, and crockery stowage outboard under the side deck. Food and cooking utensils can be stored in the spacious locker below. Ahead of the galley and toilet compartment are two single berths in a U shaped configuration with storage lockers under. Above each berth is a full length shelf beneath the sidedeck with lockers at the after ends. In the cabin roof is a large opening hatch.
