The stylish looking MV KOORINE is a strongly built 51' Motor Cruiser. She was designed and built by the legendary designer/shipwrights, WL Holmes and Co in Sydney in 1936.
She makes for an ideal coastal (and blue water) cruiser but would make an ideal liveabord as well. With an approximate cruising range under motor of approx 16000 nm (10LPH cruising at 8 knots), "KOORINE" is all about adventure (in comfort and style)
With its incredible history, superb build quality, and luxurious interior, the "KOORINE" (formerly HMAS Koorine) is a vessel that attracts attention wherever she goes.
Designed and built in 1936 by WL Holmes & Co in Sydney of 1 3/4" Carvel NZ Kauri Pine. Originally commissioned for Sir Clifton Love (Uncle Toby's Oats founder), no expense was spared in its construction.
In 1942, Koorine served in World War Two, with mounted machine guns and depth chargers. She served in the Australian fleet and then as a merchant vessel for the US Army's Small Ships "Rag Tag" Fleet, running supplies to Papua New Guinea and returning wounded to Australia.
After her service, Koorine underwent a refit in the 1970s, including hull lengthening, deck raising, engine upgrades, and interior transformation from military bunks to a luxury cruising vessel. Purchased by current owners in 2021, she has benefited from a significant refit with no expense spared. Upgrades include:
- NEW stainless steel drive shafts
- NEW stern tubes
- NEW bearings
- NEW batteries
- NEW Stainless steel fuel tank and extensive hull work.
- Internal refit with velvet lining.
Outside, the walk-around deck offers all weather protection. The flybridge has helm controls with clears and ample seating.
Vessels such as the KOORINE have well-established credentials as capable and comfortable sea boats. She is comprehensively equipped and is presented in very good condition. She offers great potential as a liveaboard.
"KOORINE" is located in Hobart at the Prince of Wales Bay marina.
