Alexander Marine are pleased to have SOLD the 2011 Ocean Alexander 60 Trawler 'Tuzi'.
As exclusive importers of new Ocean Alexander Yachts into Australia and New Zealand, we possess extensive knowledge and expertise in representing the Ocean Alexander brand.
Measuring 60 feet in length, 'Tuzi' offers ample space for both relaxation and entertainment. A classic trawler, devotees of Ocean Alexander will appreciate that the very first boat they built back in 1978 was a trawler and they have spent the past 45 years perfecting these hardy Queens of the Sea. Combining functionality, efficient performance and elegance, this yacht offers a luxurious and comfortable experience for both coastal cruising and ocean passages.
Embarking in 2012 for a two-season escapade, the boat ventured on a Pacific Ocean odyssey that spanned continents and cultures. This vessel is the very definition of blue water proven! Beginning with a tranquil glide through the Inside Passage, it reached the shores of Glacier Bay, a hidden gem along the Alaskan coast. From there 'Tuzi' charted a course across the vast ocean to Eureka, California, before embracing the allure of Hawaii and the tropical paradises of Lion Island, Samoa, Fiji and Nouméa beckoned, their vibrant landscapes leaving an indelible mark on the boat's voyage. Traveling closer to home to Mooloolabah in Australia in 2015. Yet, the pinnacle of its voyage lay in its two-year sojourn journey to Tasmania amidst the island's captivating beauty. Each stop, a chapter; each wave, a testament to its journey of exploration and resilience.
Standing alongside the Ocean Alexander 60 her seaworthy capabilities are undeniable. She looks and feels like a small ship! Sitting well above her high flared bow is a large Portuguese bridge and above that again is the fibreglass hardtop flybridge offering a bird's eye view of the ocean ahead. Below the waterline is the famous Ocean Alexander S-Bow, a narrowed bulb exclusively designed to cancel stern wave, reduce pitch, spray and pounding which translates to making more speed on less fuel and a much more pleasant day at sea.
From the dock 'Tuzi' is clearly a no-nonsense offshore motor yacht but just wait until you step onboard - she is all class.
Boarding aft, you enter the boat via the teak swim platform. With removable stainless-steel stanchions, this is the perfect place to launch into your water sports - swimming, diving, kayaking, fishing or jet skiing.
A solid door leads from the swim platform into the open plan cockpit. The absence of built-in seating allows the owner to furnish the area to suit their unique style and comfort requirements. Portside against the saloon bulk head is a handy storage cabinet. With the boat deck extending all the way over the cockpit and custom-made clears onboard, this is an ideal entertainment area with shade and protection from the sun, wind, and rain.
There are boarding doors both port and starboard leading onto to the wide, fully covered teak side decks providing access all the way to the bow. Forward starboard corner of the cockpit is a molded stairway with wide treads and stainless-steel handrail being one of two ways to take you to the flybridge. A hatch in the cockpit sole gives you access to the gigantic lazarette below where the Aqua Whisper 150L/hour water maker is located.
Entering the main saloon from the cockpit via a solid Dutch door you feel like you have stepped into the private room of a luxury apartment. The interior of this Ocean Alexander is a testament to the brand's commitment to luxury and comfort. The spacious saloon features large windows that provide panoramic views of the surrounding seascape, creating a light and airy atmosphere. Forward on the portside is a cream upholstered L-shaped sectional sofa and teak coffee table. To starboard are two single seater armchairs, the perfect place to relax with a good book or to watch your favourite movie on the LG 50" flatscreen TV. An added bonus is that 'Tuzi' is fully airconditioned, making her even more comfortable in the summery tropics.
Beside the armchairs to starboard is a curved stairway leading down to the aft cabin with wet head, two single bunks, Maytag washer and dryer and access to the engine room via a solid watertight door. This multipurpose area can be used for very comfortable crew accommodation, an additional guest cabin or utility room.
Back up in the main saloon, immediately forward of the dining area is the U-shaped galley. The well-appointed galley is equipped with top-of-the-line appliances including Sub-Zero fridge/freezer, Jen-Air convection oven and Gaggenau electric cooktop. The galley boasts ample storage space, making meal preparation a breeze for the family or when hosting a party of guests. An added feature is a convenient servery between the galley and saloon which also adds to a more spacious feel. At the end of the evening, pack everything into the Fisher & Paykel dish drawer and sit back with your guests and indulge in a nightcap.
A couple of steps forward of the galley brings you to the impressive pilothouse. In the port aft corner pilothouse is an L-shaped dinette wrapped around an expandable dining table offering a comfortable place for the admiral and guests to keep the captain company while underway. At anchor, the pilothouse is another elevated space to appreciate overlooking the vista while enjoying an afternoon cocktail.
The lower helm is fitted with two ergonomic Stidd helm chairs where the captain can comfortably oversee the helm station with full suite of Raymarine navigational equipment. 'Tuzi' is supplied with a Side-Power bow thruster enhancing the ships manoeuvrability. The expansive pilothouse windows provide excellent visibility, and there is convenient access to the side decks when necessary. While underway, Keypower hydraulic fin stabilisers ensure the utmost comfort for guests.
Within the pilothouse, beside the helm station is a stairwell to starboard leading down to stately accommodation. At the bottom of the stairs aft is the master stateroom, a luxurious retreat with a queen-sized island bed, ensuite bathroom with separate shower recess, 32" Sony TV/DVD and plenty of storage for personal belongings. Directly forward is the VIP stateroom with ensuite which is equally as impressive, ensuring that all passengers can enjoy their time onboard in utmost comfort.
The second access point to the flybridge is via a set of stairs in the pilothouse. Feeling like you are on top of the world, this is the ideal place to navigate the ship with unrestricted visibility. Twin Stidd helm chairs oversee the helm panel with complete matching electronics to the pilothouse below. Incredibly spacious, with the bridge deck extending all the way to aft, the flybridge will be a popular space on the boat for entertaining or just lazing in the sunshine when visiting your favourite anchorage. Complete with a midship BBQ and sink for entertaining guests as they sit back and enjoy the views from the dining area. While underway or when 'Tuzi' is resting, there is a SM 1500R steel head crane (SWL 682kg) and cradle for the vessel's centre console 4.2M BRIG RIB and 4 stroke 50HP Honda outboard.
Looking down from the flybridge you see the foredeck comprised of two different areas. Directly in front of the pilothouse there is the Portuguese bridge with forward and aft facing bench seats. Another beautiful entertaining area or vantage point to enjoy in calm conditions when enroute. Taking a step down is the deck housing the ground tackle. 'Tuzi' is secured with a large 55kg Rocna anchor and 400 feet of 3/8 short link G43 anchor chain supported by a Muir Cheetah windlass.
The engine room is huge and well laid out to access daily maintenance items. At her heart, you will find 'Tuzi' is powered by two C9 Caterpillar 565HP diesel engines. Each engine has approximately 3,000hrs on the clock. She is capable of a spirited 16 knots and cruising comfortably at 9 knots. A Northern Lights 20KVA generator is also located in the engine room.
Just over ten years young, this 2011 Ocean Alexander 60 trawler is a true reflection of small ship design and associated engineering. With a combination of luxury, performance, capability, and functionality, 'Tuzi' is sure to impress even the most discerning yachtsperson. Whether you are seeking a vessel for weekend getaways, coastal expeditions or you are ready to cross oceans as she has done before, this Australian registered trawler is the perfect choice. Experience the joy of owning an Ocean Alexander luxury yacht and embark on unforgettable journeys on the open seas. Selene and Nordhavn buyers should take note of this vessel.
