Pama Yachts 65 (extended Pama 62)
If you're looking for a serious pilothouse cruiser that is capable of extended cruising then you must inspect the Pama 65 "Last Word"
Designed by the well-known American naval architect Howard Apollonio and built by Pama Yachts in Shenzhen China using female moulded GRP construction this luxury pilothouse motor yacht has two helms and is finished to a very high standard using handcrafted cherry wood throughout the interior.
Last Word is powered by twin Caterpillar C12 electronic diesel engines of 705hp each and is capable of top speeds of around 25 knots with a cruising speed of 20 - 22 knots. Last Word is fitted with both bow and stern thrusters.
The current and first owner, commissioned the vessel and added many improvements and upgrades throughout the construction process including a stern platform extension taking the aft platform out to 1.6m with internal storage compartments and stainless rails and access gate, Wesmar active roll fin digital gyro stabilizer system, the genset was upgraded to a 17 kva Onan Quiet series (with auto generator start) which powers all onboard 230v requirements in conjunction with an upgrade MagnaSine 4.8 kw inverter/ 110 amp 24 vdc battery charger for silent ship 230v supply. Last Word has 3 separate battery chargers and 4 separate battery banks including a house service supply provided by 840 amp hours (20 hour rate) 24vdc long life lead crystal batteries by Betta Batteries with dual battery monitors.
Other upgrades to an already very high specification include a highly optioned AB Inflatable 13VST Oceanus RIB tender with a 4 stroke 60 hp Yamaha motor on a stainless-steel cradle, a 550kg Nick Jackson hydraulic crane. There is also a smaller inflatable tender with 3 hp Yamaha 2 stroke motor and 2 Hobie peddle canoes. There is also 4 Lebroc helm seats added as improvements ( 2 in each of the 2 helms), plus electronic remote controls, upgraded 1001b Ultra S/S anchor and 80 m of PWB "L" grade galvanised 13mm chain, above deck Muir special order windlass with bow controls (and 2 additional remote operation stations with chain counters), a HRO desalinate/water maker with commercial filters, fiberglass hardtop, three x 14 inch navigation screens supporting an extensive array of navigation gear and accessories including a FLIR high resolution thermal/night vision camera, sunbrella and mesh covers protecting many areas and clears protecting part of the flying bridge. There are also engine room cameras, 5 TVs and upgraded Bose and Fusion entertainment systems.
In essence this is one of the top examples of the Pama 65's ever built and the current owner is fastidious to the extreme and has maintained her in top condition from the day she was launched.
This popular style of pilothouse motor yacht which is capable of fast cruising at 20-22 knots is also set up for longer distance cruising at displacement speeds 8 - 11 knots with the Wesmar roll fin stabilisers coming into their own to give a comfortable, quiet and economical ride. The walk-in engine room is very well set up with dual Racor filters, multiple large capacity bilge pumps a fuel transfer pump and oil change pumps plumbed into each engine the gearboxes and the
genset. The engines and genset have been regularly serviced and fully maintained by the same mechanics with full history available and regular oil samples are taken and results recorded.
Last Word has dual access to the ample storage lazarette via a rear door off the boarding platform and an access hatch with electric drive lift and stay through the cockpit floor. Last Word has LED lighting throughout (plus 230 vac fluros and 24 vdc lights in the lazz and engine room for additional lighting), 4 underwater blue Aqualuma Leds aft and teak laid flooring on the boarding platform and cockpit. The full inventory and specification is attached which confirms there is very little this luxury motor yacht does not have as she comes complete with twin stainless water heaters, twin water pumps and accumulators, separate washing machine and dryer, wine cooler, built in BBQ, air conditioning, three double cabins including two ensuites and a large galley with plenty of drawer and cupboard space, ice making in the full-size Sub-Zero fridge, Braun garbage compactor, induction cooktop, convection microwave oven, double bowl stainless sink, dish washer and granite benchtops.
Presenting as new (if not better) Last Word is a true coastal passagemaker and is a credit to her first and current owner. The thought, attention to detail and loving maintenance Last Word has had since her inception is something rarely seen on the brokerage market.
If you are considering taking off on the adventure of a lifetime on a solid, well designed and extremely comfortable passagemaker, Last Word is a must to inspect.
