Randell 32 Flybridge Cruiser Shaft drive diesel - what a cracker!! ** NOW SOLD **

There was a touch of nostalgia as I took 'Monique' for a run up the Swan River for her photo shoot. I wonder if when Len Randell designed and build these boats back in the seventies and eighties he would have thought they would still be going so strong forty years later. I have stepped on many of these Randell's in my early years as a boat broker and it's been a long time since I last sold one so I was keen to get back behind the wheel - and what a perfect autumn day it was!

Most of these were powered by twin diesel or petrol stern drives however 'Monique' is one of only a couple built running single diesel shaft drives. I was mighty surprised by her 20 knots sprint speed. I dropped her back to 15/16 knots where she sat very comfortably and without vibration. No doubt a very economical speed.

Of course some of you are probably thinking she could be a nightmare to manoeuvre and no doubt she was prior to the installion of a Sidepower bow thruster making parking a breeze. An absolute game changer for any single screw shaft drive boat. In fact 'Monique' has had many upgrades over the years, items that were not around when she was built back in the eighties including a current model Raymarine Touch screen multifunction display wirh GPS & sounder, an electric windlass and a foldup solar panel.

The flybridge and cockpit clears and camper covers are all brand new courtesy of Sunset Coast Marine Trimmers. Her interior is very original - satin varnished teak everywhere, hood linings all in tact and little wear on the vinyl upholstery.

The galley is quite large with loads of counter space and the bathroom module opposite includes a manual toilet and shower.

The forward berth is the one to grab on an overnighter. You can have either two singles or a double layout. The saloon table lowers and the port lounge extends to create two more berths if required but you could always throw a swag on the rear deck.

Her self draining cockpit is quite spacious and there is still plenty of room to place a few chairs and a table. With the camper covers up, the side combings also double as seating for a crowd.

I have to say I was really impressed with this craft and if I had time I would love to get my hands on her and give her a cosmetic refit. That said, there is nothing stopping you from stepping aboard 'Monique' and taking her offshore today or up river for those winter getaways as she is.
