BROADBILL | 2004 VIKING 56 CONVERTIBLE
Few names command the respect of serious offshore fishermen quite like Viking. Renowned for their legendary sea-keeping ability, tournament-winning pedigree and uncompromising build quality, the Viking 56 Convertible remains one of the most sought-after sportfishing platforms ever built.
Broadbill is a standout example of this iconic model.
Australian Ship Registered and extensively upgraded in recent years, she combines the proven performance of a world-class Viking hull with a host of modern improvements that make her equally suited to tournament fishing, long-range cruising or extended adventures throughout Australia and the South Pacific.
Powered by twin MTU 12V2000 diesel engines producing 1,480HP each, Broadbill delivers the exhilarating performance, reliability and offshore capability that have made Viking the benchmark in bluewater sportfishing. A mid-life service completed by MTU Cairns provides additional confidence for her next owner, while the engine room presents exceptionally well and reflects the standard of care this vessel has received.
In late 2023 Broadbill received a new Black Marlin tower, enhancing both her appearance and offshore functionality. The electronics package has also been comprehensively modernised with twin Garmin 17-inch multifunction displays, twin Garmin 10-inch displays, Garmin autopilot, Garmin AIS, satellite compass and 96-mile open array radar. New MTU engine displays, Yacht Devices repeaters, Furuno sounder, night vision camera and Starlink Marine connectivity ensure she is equipped for serious offshore work anywhere on the Australian coastline and beyond.
The investment continues throughout the vessel with a comprehensive and state of the art Victron lithium power system featuring Quattro inverter chargers, new batteries throughout, upgraded anchoring equipment including a Muir Storm 4000 windlass and new chain, rebuilt deck crane, new bow thruster, new SeaStar steering cylinder, upgraded bilge systems and numerous additional mechanical and electrical improvements.
Further enhancing onboard comfort is a Seakeeper 9 gyro stabiliser, recently serviced and ready for immediate use. Whether trolling offshore, drifting over a reef or spending extended periods at anchor, the Seakeeper dramatically reduces roll and fatigue, creating a more comfortable experience for owners, family and guests alike.
Stepping aboard, the expansive teak cockpit immediately showcases Broadbill's sportfishing credentials. The cockpit is spacious, practical and beautifully presented, featuring a premium game chair and ample room to fish multiple anglers comfortably. Combined with the impressive tower and excellent visibility throughout the vessel, Broadbill is every inch the serious offshore game fishing machine.
The accommodation is equally impressive. Rich timber finishes, generous living spaces and a surprisingly modern feel create a welcoming environment for extended stays aboard. Recent upgrades including new hard acrylic clears, reupholstered exterior cushions, a new Fusion sound system and multiple new LED televisions further enhance the onboard experience.
An out-of-water survey was completed in June 2025, with the hull and topsides professionally polished and presented to a high standard. Included in the sale is a near-new RIB tender powered by a 50HP Suzuki four-stroke outboard, providing excellent versatility once at anchor.
Whether your plans involve chasing black marlin off Cairns, exploring remote destinations throughout the South Pacific or simply owning one of the most respected sportfishing convertibles ever built, Broadbill presents a rare opportunity to acquire a highly upgraded Viking 56 where the hard work has already been done.
Significant money has been invested across the vessel's key systems, electronics, comfort and offshore capability.
Currently lying on the Gold Coast, Broadbill is ready for her next adventure.
