Core Sound 17 by B&B Yacht Designs

CORE SOUND17 'Obsession' is fully restored and ready for a new skipper.
"Obsession" is truly shallow water friendly with kick-up centreboard and rudder. She is quick and easy to rig and launch, easy to sail, self tacking and open-water capable. The Core Sound designs are by B&B Yacht Designs of North Carolina in the USA (Graham Byrnes the designer is originally from Australia). They have an enviable reputation in events such as the Everglades Challenge where they have held the class record for many years. Though not common in Australia there are hundreds of Core Sound dinghies worldwide.
The rig is exceptionally easy to handle. Being a cat-rigged ketch it is self-tacking and also very gentle when gybing. "Obsession" also has a removable bow prodder for jib or kite. The jib is very handy when beating to windward in light airs and the boat planes quite easliy off the breeze especially when a kite is set. I have fully restored the boat to as-new including new masts and sails, new hatches, tiller, paintwork, tabernacle for main mast, and a near new 2.5hp Suzuki 4 stroke motor.
The trailer is in very good condition and has a winch, self-centring rollers and side-guides.
You will notice that the design is very focussed on expedition type sailing. She is easy to rig, easy to drop masts, has shallow draft, is rowable, has large storage spaces, and huge buoyancy compartments along the sides, where they are most needed for easy self-recovery. The mast head float is also a must for easy self-recovery and safety.
Overall a perfect boat for single-handing, camp cruising or day sailing with family or friends.
