Careel 22L. Sail No 117.
Serenity has been kept at the RRSC in the compound at Ballina for the 8 years I have owned her.
She has been used mostly for racing at the club each weekend. ( Ist on pbh, Ist on cbh 2022,2nd on cbh 2023). She has also been a regular competitor at the Bay to Bay (1st on cbh 2023), Wivenhoe Regatta ( 1st on cbh 2020), and Bridge to Breakers.
I have also done a lot of cruisng with Serenity, taking her out to sea off Ballina many times for the whale watching season, spending a week up at the north Whitsunday Islands, and twice spending a week on Sydney Harbour, anchouring her off the Opera house to watch the New Years fireworks.
Serenity is like a small yacht. I have never hesitated to take her out to sea in favourable conditions, or to launch a spinnaker in over 20 knots. She has never had to retire from a race due to gear falure as I have spent a lot of money to keep her gear in good order.
Since owning her I have renewed her running rigging, Mainsail, No 1,2 and 3 headsails, and spinnaker( of which she has 2). Her hydrolic ram has had the seals replaced in the cockpit and she has had her keel professionally removed and re coated along with a new keel bolt. She has had her rudder replaced, alond with all her haylards, which I replaced with spectra, long enough to not need to remove them from their cleats when derigging. I have replaced both batteries and installed a Garmin for navigation. The trailer has had her springs replaced, along with her bearings. Her tyres were replaced in 2017. New brakes in 2023. She comes with a 4000lb TJM electric winch, replaced in 2022, and 13 months rego on the trailer. Serenity has the standard boom tent with clear sides and a pop top hatch that provides 6 foot head room. She has a porter potti, methostove, sink, Nav lights, safety lines, 6 hp long shaft Mercury outboard ( serviced professionally in 2023), solar panels for charging, fire extinguisher, flares, life jackets, and a stern anchour.
