A Haines Hunter designed hull, originally overbuilt by Penguin in Western Australia as a Striker 26,"Plutonium" received a new lease on life with a full rebuild and extension to 29ft from 2021 to 2022 by the acclaimed shipwrights of Able Marine in Kettering, Tasmania. With its internals completely gutted, the hull was ground back and re-glassed with a new system and flow coat to finish. A new floor throughout, new cabin, new internals and a new extended transom were crafted, virtually forming a newly built vessel. The new transom became home to a Mercury Verado 350hp outboard, while the rest of the vessel received all brand-new fittings, wiring, upholstery, and so on - everything fitted to this vessel was fitted new and presents as such, finishing off what has been dubbed the Striker TP29.

The interior layout is functional and uncluttered, featuring a large settee to port and a functional kitchenette to starboard behind the helm, featuring a sink with fresh water, while the whole space is heated with a Webasto diesel heater. The helm is well positioned to starboard and makes use of a Garmin MFD with chart plotter and sounder, drive controls and all the engine telemetry you'd expect of a newer fit-out. The cabin is full of light thanks to its satin interior finish and enormous panoramic windows, while the lighter foam-core roof makes space for solar charging. The forward accommodation features a wide V-berth with a partial centre in-fill, covering the toilet, providing all you'd need for a few nights away.

The aft deck and cockpit space is one of this vessel's highlights - a large, uncluttered space with high sides, making it perfect for water sports activities, fishing or socialising and relaxing. With masses of storage below foot and several deep compartments within the sides, there's plenty of room for all those toys and gear.

The Mercury 350hp Verado sits cleanly on the stern, featuring only 80 hours of use but a strong service record regardless of usage with the latest having been April 2026. This powerplant is good for a 42-knot sprint or a comfortable cruise of 22-25 knots, consuming circa 35-40 L/hr.

With its proven design, beefier construction and meticulous rebuild, Plutonium is a terrific like-new performance vessel. Remodelled with an uncluttered but highly functional interior, it is an excellent choice for those wanting to venture further for longer with a few nights at anchor. Presenting in like-new condition with a fresh antifoul in January 2026, Plutonium is ready to enjoy straight away!
