Beth is an Iain Oughtred design 'Tammie Norrie'. Built by Paul Rubera in Melbourne in 2007 and launched as a gaff rigged yawl. Purchased in 2014 by Wayne McCallum from Glenmaggie in Victoria. Over his eight years of ownership Wayne carried out signicant restoration and improvements to Beth including replacng all of the thwart knees with blackwood, replaced the mizzen mast partner and incorporated it into the stern quarter knee, restored the centreboard cap and the main mast partner, and replaced pine floor boards with hardwood. The tiller is actually a piece of elm from a branch which fell from a tree and had just the right curve to the grain. The current owner purchased Beth in 2022 and recently carried out further improvements including adding a dyna forestay, fitting a bronze stemhead, repairs to the main mast and mizzen mast, and all new running rigging. Needliess to say as an Iain Oughtred design Beth scuds along, is easy on the helm, and if the wind drops out is a great row. Purchased another Oughtred design so regrettably time to move Beth on. The trailer is in excellent condition, easy to tow, and launching and retrieiving Beth is very straightforward.
