HOW WE RUN THE BUSINESS
With an enthusiastic family there is lots of potential for this business, but it's becoming too much work for Heather and myself on our own..
The seafood truck runs into NSW & Victoria selling prawns and seafood over 7 full days, selling prawns and seafood. We sell to 19 different towns, with a good turnover of an average of 60k to 70k per trip once per month. The brand new Hyundai seafood truck come in at a cost of 250k plus. We also sell at the SA Farmers Market Pooraka once a month on a Sunday & sell mostly S&B, 21/30,16/20 & 10/15 5kg cartons raw & 2kg bags of 21/30 & S&B raw. We only open our seafood shop at 10/15 Hewittson Rd Edinburgh North seasonally to suit our lifestyle. We open 4 days a week in November, then in December this year we will be opening nearly every day from the 3rd of December to Christmas Eve, so open a full 21 days. From Christmas Day we then close the shop as we are sold out of our June, November & December caught prawns, we remain closed & reopen 1 week before Good Friday & start selling our March caught prawns in the shop & seafood truck. After Easter we concentrate on getting our seafood ready once a month for the seafood truck run into NSW & Victoria we open the shop 3 days a month, Saturday at the shop, Sunday at the SA Farmers Market, Monday shop & Tuesday shop, the Wednesday we finish loading the seafood truck & head to Broken Hill around 11.30am, then Thursday we start selling in Broken Hill, Friday Mildura & Robinvale, Saturday Swan Hill, Kerang & Cohuna, Sunday Echuca, Rochester & Bendigo, Monday St Arnaud, Stawell & Horsham, Tuesday, Dimboola, Nhill & Warracknabeal, Wednesday, Donald, Sea Lake, Ouyen & Red Cliffs, then we head back to Edinburgh North around 2.40pm Wednesday & Thursday we unload the seafood truck & wash everything inside & out & then head home to Wallaroo for 14 days off before it all starts again. We will have financial figures for SA King Prawns shop, seafood truck & wholesale at the end of June 2025
