1960-1962 Timber jet boat runabout
A truely rare classic requiring partial restoration.
Very rare, thought to be the only one/prototype with a DeHavilland Stage 2 Chinook Jet Unit ( licensed copy of the same Hamilton Jet ). Made in Australia by DeHavilland after the War in Sydney when they starting building aluminium tinnys. Motor/jet combination is the same as Hamiltons proven setup with their Turbocraft line of boat packages.
Engine is original factory converted ( N. Walker and son, Sydney) marinized Ford 6 cylinder Zephyr of 156 cub in, and rated at 45mph on this boat, 75kph. Has a draft of 50mm when on the plane.
Bond wood construction with fibreglassed exterior, requiring some internal sister ribs and rub rails replacement. Jet hull
in good condition with new transom installed in the 90's. No rego on boat or trailer.
All original including windscreen, jerry can fuel tank and fire extiinguisher.
Original 1960 steel tube suspension trailer with 100mm forged drop axle in need of repair or reproduction. Turns heads. Very rare. Not trailerable for long distance but a great cradle to transport on a flattop truck or trailer. 2.250 width.
Ford engine is not running, missing spark plug and coil leads, has original hand crank. Have not tried to start, no battery.
Jet unit has apparantly been serviced when the transom was replaced and does spin freely.
Unit is missing the throttle control and gear box control cable and lever which can be sorted via reproduction by a NSW jet club.
Last registered in Victoria in 1973. Spent most of its life undercover.
This is a rare survivor which requires work with parts for the motor and jet unit if required available on the web.
Selling due to moving. Pick up only.
Moving soon and must sell. Best offer around 2800.00
