Manteca is a fine example of a large volume aft cockpit blue water sloop, built to survey, of French design and constructed in Germany.
The Bavaria Ocean 38 Exclusive has an excellent reputation for its strength, performance and comfort in the most challenging sailing conditions. It features a 'walk-over' transom, unique to the production line, with comfortable cockpit seating for 6 adults, all protected from the elements by a large dodger and bimini. In suitable conditions at anchor, boom awnings provide additional protection from hot weather and sunlight. While at berth, a foredeck awning can be attached to protect the vessel from the sun helping to keep the interior cool. In addition, Manteca has a fully margined, low maintenance, Flexiteek deck and cockpit sole adding to temperature control and noise reduction.
Below deck is well laid out with navigation station to starboard and L-shaped galley to port. The 38 Exclusive is designed with two cabins, a double Vee-berth cabin forward with its own ensuite and a double cabin aft on the port side. A neat toilet and shower compartment is located behind the navigation station on the starboard side and features a handy wet locker. The saloon presents two settees with a drop-leaf dining table. The interior is beautifully finished in rosewood veneer with solid timber door frames and panel edging.
Excellent engine access from four sides makes service and maintenance of the 30hp Volvo Penta diesel engine simple.
The sloop is driven by a 9/10 fractional rig sail plan featuring a Seldon mast and boom with heavy gauge SS rigging, a targa bar at the transom with solar panels and davits supporting a 2.6m Aquapro RIB and 3hp Yamaha outboard motor.
Manteca is a well maintained cruising yacht that has been sailed extensively throughout Queensland and Whitsunday Island waters and is highly recommended for those looking for a quality sailing vessel to embark on long distance blue water adventures.
Manteca is currently berthed at the Coral Sea Marina Resort at Airlie Beach and may be inspected by contacting the owner on .
