NOT to be confused with the Farrier F82R. "Trojan" is a Corsair 2007.(USA) manufactured C28R (Number 212) which is the most popular size of these folding and trailerable trimarans essentially because it hits the "sweet spot" for cruising, racing and trailerability. It is an evolution of the F27 which had designer Ian Farrier inducted into the sailing Hall of Fame in 1986. Trojan is also the preferred "aft cockpit" version which has a much larger cockpit that can comfortably fit 6 for a day sail. The "R" denomination also means that it has a taller carbon fibre mast that can carry more efficient sails to suit lighter winds (that we typically get in Queensland). Being a manufactured boat brings the advantages of a gel coat and potentially easier insurance in future than "one off" plan builds.
Although mostly used on Moreton Bay and stored on the trailer on the hardstand with the mast up, she has been further afield on her Dunbier dual axle trailer which has recently had the bearings replaced new springs and had a Safety Certificate on 19/8/24 to enable easy ownership transfer and give peace of mind.
Because Trojan has been stored with her mast up and on the trailer on the hardstand at Wynnum Manly, we haven't reapplied the antifoul as done by the previous owners. The cost of reantifouling could be saved if the purchaser intended to store her on the trailer. I have a quote from pronto marine for antifoul of one thousand seven hundred dollars including GST. The 10hp extra long shaft Honda outboard is also in exelent condition and serviced annualy. ( last serviced April 2024).
The boat comes with a full set of manuals for the components, a Farrier Sailing Manual, mast raising equipment, carbon retractable bowsprit, Bimini, boom tent, travel covers and a toolkit with plenty of spares.
Trojan can be kept on the hard stand at Wynnum Manly Yacht club by the new owner if they wish. The hardstand can be transfered to the new owner by taking over the lease. Hardstands in Moreton bay are hard to come by. Generaly waiting time is around twelve months.
"Trojan" has had many updates and upgrades including:
>Highfield Lever Shrouds and Forestay replaced 2019
>Halyards and Sheets replaced 2019.
>New carbon (Fibrepath) mainsail (UK Halsey ) 2020
>New furling overlapping jib (Uk Halsey) July 2021
>New screecher on furler (Uk Halsey) October 2022
>Spinnaker (2016)
>Honda 10HP Extra Long Shaft 4 stroke 10HP outboard with alternator battery charging 2016
>Trampolines are in good order (not original)
>Lowrance GPS/ Chartplotter (2016)
>Raymarine ST1000 tiller pilot (2016)
>VHF Radio (2016)
>Full Sumbrella cover (2018)
>Boat and Trailer registration current and paid until November 2025.
Inside she has a V berth and side bunks, a Lagun Adjustable table, Orica metho stove, sink, portapotti with internal storage and additional storage in the armors for sails lines fenders and the like. Safety equipment includes an EPIRB, lifejackets, flares and other assorted equipment. The aft cockpit arrangement enables storage under the cockpit floor, a location often used for a 12v camping fridge behind the removable steps down into the cabin.
Trojan has been a pleasure to own and use for cruising, racing and social sailing. All inspections welcome.
