With brilliant volume and seakeeping abilities, this 40ft Tasmanian Huon Pine timber motorsailer "Moonraker", presents a fantastic opportunity for those seeking to go further. Custom built by a team of highly skilled professionals, Moonraker incorporates a well-laid-out interior with a desirable and spacious raised pilothouse and living areas.
Moonraker's cockpit is vast with the added benefit of a 'day bridge' with a second helm situated on the starboard side of the cockpit, protected by an elegant windbreaker windscreen sporting varnished Huon Pine timber frames. The cockpit provides simple mobility when transiting the stern staircase/boarding platform, with the addition of a secure and sturdy dinghy davit system. A Nilson 12V sheeting winch is situated centrally, next to easy access to additional storage in the lazarette. This vast area can be shaded with a custom bimini that has been put into storage to retain its condition.
Main access to the interior can be found through a central walkway, where you are quickly greeted by a pleasantly light and airy interior, elevated by the exceptionally intriguing Huon Pine timber interior. Sitting in the centre, a well-proportioned bench seat with an extendable table-top provides a great accompaniment to the excellent 'L'-shape settee situated to port. Aft of the settee, a well-equipped galley with a 3-burner gas stove and oven, accompanied by an enormous in-built refrigerator and freezer, offer great extended liveaboard characteristics. The raised pilothouse and living space are littered with storage throughout. Forward and to starboard in the pilothouse, a well-equipped helm station with excellent visibility provides a comfortable, warm and dry navigation environment.
Forward and below, we enter the first of two accommodation spaces, fitted with a nifty rolling wooden door to segregate the private area, effectively providing additional space for bathroom and shower use. With the head and shower immediately to the port side, a settee and hanging robe is placed adjacent to the starboard side, providing a great space for changing post-shower. The forward berth comprises of a V-berth layout, with a great infill to convert into a joined double berth. Just forward of this berth, sits a clever storage compartment, much like a small forward lazarette, suitable for clothing or storage for other items, in addition to the cabin's other clothing storage lockers. In addition to the forward accommodation, Moonraker benefits further from a spacious aft cabin, sporting great floor space and a twin berth configuration.
Moonraker is proudly propelled by a Gardner 85hp engine, situated below the floor of the pilothouse with easy access beneath the central settee and table, providing a cruise speed of 7 knots, using 5 L/hr from its 350L fuel capacity. The vessel is well-equipped on deck with a 50lb CQR anchor, aluminium mast and boom that is accompanied by a mainsail and furling headsail.
Moonraker is a fine example of good craftsmanship through the use of Tasmanian Huon Pine timber, resulting in a well-equipped and highly capable extended cruising vessel, that sports excellent interior and exterior spaces, making long periods of time spent on board as pleasant as can be.
