ADAMS CARINA 44 Performance cruiser in excellent condition.
I have owned "Eriskay" for nine years and she has lived up to her design brief of being a safe, fast and confidence- inspiring vessel, circumnavigating Tasmania twice and cruising to Queensland in that time.
Eriskay was built as a fixed keel version. This allows the ballast to be placed lower and avoids the intrusion of a centreboard through the accommodation. Her draft of 1.85m (6' 2") allows her to access shoal anchorages and, for us in Hobart, to transit the Denison Canal.
She is an Australian Registered Ship in excellent condition and her most recent out-of-water survey (11/10/2023) concludes that: Eriskay is "... Built to a very high standard.... With long distance offshore sailing in mind. " and "Eriskay (is) structurally sound and well suited for her intended design of offshore sailing".
She has been maintained to a consistently high standard. Notable inclusions are: Volvo 55hp engine, installed in 2012, has done 2300hrs with a major service ( heat exchanger descale, injectors and valves) less than 500hrs ago. Oil and filters replaced annually. The standing rigging was completely replaced in October 2021 and the dripless shaft seal replaced in October 2023. A full list of upgrades/ major maintenance available on request.
The boat has sleek lines and clear decks, with 9 two speed ST winches and an anchor winch to assist short- handed cruising. We comfortably reckon on passage durations at an average of 7kn under sail or power ( 3.5l/hr).
Below deck she features a full teak fitout with two private double cabins and berths for 7 in total. There are two toilets with hot and cold water, one with a professionally- installed holding tank, the other with a hot shower and separate sump.
The traditional warmth of the teak for her many storage lockers provides an enticing ambience, augmented by excellent ventilation, LED lighting and a Webasto diesel heater.
The roomy galley features a double sink ( hot, cold and salt supply) and gas stove with grill and oven. A very generous fridge and freezer are adjacent, under the nav table. On a recent trip to East Coast Tasmania, the freezer had no trouble keeping food for four people frozen for three weeks, powered by
the boat's solar panels.
Above the nav table is the major power board, VHF and HF radios, AIS and radar. The boat has professionally installed 240 volt supply, including a galvanic isolator. In addition to outlets, both the fridge and hot water accept 240 v making living aboard a breeze.

Remarks
As noted in her survey, Eriskay was built to a very high standard. She has been maintained to retain her confidence-inspiring seaworthyness and quality of finish. We have just returned from a thee week open water cruise and she is ready to go again. Sale due to my advancing age.
