Top Hat 25 Mk3 - Standing Headroom (188cm), ready to sail, can deliver!
Top Hats are the best known and most capable 25ft or under Australian cruising yachts and are built to last. At least 2 Top Hats have circumnavigated the globe and many more have crossed oceans. For coastal cruising Australia, you'd be hard pressed to find a better sailboat under 30ft.
This is a perfect yacht to learn to sail or a great low maintenance but capable boat for the experienced skipper. The full keel keeps you stable offshore and the relatively short size makes singlehanded sailing a breeze. Not to mention the shorter size means it's cheaper to slip, berth, and maintain overall. Amazingly enough this boat features 188cm (6ft 2in) standing headroom thanks to the extra interior space provided by the full keel. This yacht is a MK3 from 1984 which makes it one of the newest Top Hats you can buy.
The inside features a large v-berth, a separate toilet room/head, a port quarter berth, a starboard dining table which converts to another berth, heaps of storage space, 90L fresh water storage, a very functional galley with 2 burner metho stove, sink, and a fold out preparation/cutting table. Overall this boat can sleep 4 comfortably and is excellent for weekend camping trips with family and friends or for extended coastal cruising. The inside is thoughtfully laid out and feels as roomy and large as many yachts up to 32ft.
The exterior of the yacht has a 9hp petrol Mercury outboard in a cockpit well, an electric trolling motor for getting on and off moorings, a furling headsail, a main sail and cover with lazy jacks, tiller steering, autopilot, 2 anchors, 2 safety/swim ladders, VHF radio, as well as 250W of solar and 155Ah of batteries to keep all electronics running smoothly. The boat also has a depth sounder which can be viewed in the Navionics app or via a phone or tablet.
All essential offshore safety equipment is included (EPIRB, flares, signaling blanket, fire extinguishers and alarms). Offshore life jackets, tether, and jacklines are set up for being safe at sea. All bilges are bone dry and the boat only features a single through hull at the galley sink meaning the boat is very safe and watertight.
The boat is located in Sydney Harbour but I can help relocate it upon further discussion. Anything within 1 day sail (~40nm, 75km) is reasonable but I would consider a further distance for the right buyer. I can also help you learn the ropes if you're new to sailing.
I've owned her for 5 years and sailed extensively up and down the coast. Regretfully selling because I'm moving interstate and want to see someone else get use out of this great boat.
If you've been looking for a small offshore sailboat, this is the one! She's ready to go sailing and keen for her next owner. Message me to schedule a time to view.
