THIS VESSEL REPRESENTS EXCELLENT VALUE AT THIS REDUCED PRICE!
The Nauticat brand is renowned for it's exceptional build quality and impressive levels of comfort at sea. The Nauticat 44 model was first built in 1974 and 23 years later Wind Dancer was built in 1997 so they must of got something right. With the huge pilothouse with 360 degree views, staysail ketch rigged for multiple sail plans and stunning teak decks she turns heads wherever she pulls into port. This vessel is an excellent example of the design and is very well equipped as a serious bluewater cruiser. In the last 12 months or so she has been significantly upgraded with NEW STANDING AND RUNNING RIGGING, NEW VIKING 4 MAN LIFERAFT WITH HYDROSTATIC RELEASE, NEW HOUSE BATTERIES (260AH X 2), NEW STERN GLAND, NEW SKIN FITTINGS (TRUDESIGN), NEW GROUND TACKLE, NEW REFRIGERATION AND FREEZER, NEW TENDER, NEW ENGINE MOUNTS, STARTER MOTOR, WATER PUMP REBUILD and ALTERNATOR FOR THE ENGINE, NEW VICTRON SOLAR CONTROLLER and the list goes on! The vessel also features LEISURE FURL IN BOOM FURLING, ELECTRIC PRIMARY 2 SPEED WINCHES, AIR CON, WATERMAKER, BOW THRUSTER, EXCELLENT ELECTRONICS INCLUDING FORWARD FACING SONAR and is a rare 3 CABIN VERSION making her an attractive package. With only 4 owners from new and having already cruised from Seattle Washington to Tasmania (Detailed log from journey still onboard) with her 2nd owners, this vessel presents a rare opportunity to fulfill even the most ambitious cruising aspirations!
Stepping inside, the workmanship of the teak fit out is absolutely superb. The quality of the timber and appointments really has to be seen to be fully appreciated. The pilothouse saloon features a generous timber table with a 60 litre fridge underneath, with seating for 8 on the comfortable settees. The interor helm provides 360 degree visibility and even a view of the mainsail shape through the sunroof while staying nice and snug on bad weather days. Most of the electronics and all the engine gauges are in here along with a chart table. The extensive master cabin is aft and features a full size queen island berth with storage all around the room for long range cruising. On the starboard side in here there is a new electric head and plumbing with a hand shower and basin while on the port side is a seperate full size shower. Forward of the pilothouse is the galley with seating for 8 and a table that drops down to form another queen bed. Under these seats is a 125 litre fridge with new Danfoss compressor and a new 25 litre Bushmans drawer freezer. Opposite this is the gimballed stove/oven and next to that is the bench with stainless twin sink that has the usual pressurised hot and cold water but also a salt water pressurised tap for long voyages. Forward of this on the port side is the second cabin with twin bunks with it's own storage and opposite on the starboard side is a new manual head with hand shower and sink that service the guests. Forward of this you have the third cabin with huge V berth with once again plenty of storage.
Outside, the aft cockpit offers an Eagles eye view of everything from the second helm where all lines run back so she is easily sailed shorthanded with the aid of the electric primary winches, in-mast furling main, and furling headsail and staysail. There is seating for 8 here near the mizzen with plenty of storage under seating. In this area there is also a new Galleymate 1100 gas BBQ, the Tohatsu outboard for the tender, stainless davits with a couple of solar panels on top, saltwater tap to wash the decks down and a ladder for accessing the water. There is easy access around the wide side decks to the bow, which is fitted with the NEW 36kg SARCA SIZE 7 EXCEL, 34kg original CQR anchor, 90m x chain and the Lofrans Tigres anchor winch that has just had NEW SOLENOIDS fitted. This will keep the vessel in place in even the most challenging anchorage!
This vessel is powered by a well maintained and reliable Yanmar Turbo Diesel 140HP Diesel Engine. Having benefited from new starter motor, engine mounts, alternator and rebuilt water pump in the last 12 months it is in excellent order. This provides easy cruising at 7 knots. Access is through 2 soundproofed hatches below pilothouse floor and engine room is cavernous.
The build quality of these vessels really is exceptional, and its in the fine details both structurally and cosmetically that this can be fully appreciated. The hull is solid hand laid fiberglass and the bulkheads look like the day they were glassed. With a full keel with protected rudder she behaves at sea and provides peace of mind. With multiple cabins and living spaces there is space everywhere and with 6'5" headroom in the pilothouse and more in the master cabin and galley she is quite unique. With so many upgrades, and all the cruising features one could ask for, this vessel simply ticks all the boxes. Ready to be enjoyed now and priced for a quick sale, she is sure to impress on inspection. .
