Proven Pacific Voyager | Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45 | NZ IVC Certified
Why spend a year in the boatyard when you could be at anchor in Fiji? This Sun Odyssey 45 is the ultimate "turnkey" offshore family cruiser. Having spent most of its life as a coastal cruiser, she was recently fitted out for blue water cruising. Having just returned from a successful season cruising the Pacific, she is fully dialed-in, battle-tested, and ready to go again tomorrow.
Unlike standard coastal cruisers, this vessel was meticulously upgraded to meet the stringent New Zealand IVC (In-Vessel Check) requirements for offshore passage-making. Every system has been scrutinized for safety and self-sufficiency, allowing your family to live the dream in total confidence.
The Ultimate Family Platform:
o Offshore Ready: Recently passed NZ IVC inspections--the highest bar for safety.
o Self-Sufficient Living: Solar and systems configured for remote, off-grid living.
o Proven Reliability: Fresh from a Pacific circuit; all "blue water" kinks have been professionally ironed out.
o Effortless Handling: Designed for short-handed sailing with all lines (including single-line reefing) leading to the cockpit--perfect for sailing with kids.
o NZ registered and taxes paid: No hidden costs to import the boat when you re-enter the country from offshore.
The twin-helm design and wide sugar-scoop transom make the transition from "sailing mode" to "swimming mode" seamless. This is a rare opportunity to own a boat that isn't just "capable" of crossing oceans--it's already done it with a family on board.

More details:
o Bottom condition: Has been cleaned regularly. Last antifouled in April 2025 with Micron 1 antifoul.
o Rigging: The rigging was last replaced in late 2018. A rig check was undertaken in 2025 prior to going offshore.
o A number of the halyards and sheets were replaced in 2025.
Inner forestay: An inner forestay added to the boat to accommodate a storm jib in 2025. This includes addition of running back stays, a custom stainless deck fitting and inner hull stay system to support the deck fitting and transfer load to the hull. This system is great offshore as the boat remains balanced in high winds, with running back stays supporting the mast from "pumping" in rough sea states. Once in calmer weather, the full stay can be removed to make tacking easy.
Watermaker: Spectra Catalina 300 12v. Produces around 30-40 L per hour at around 10amp draw. This unit does not have a computer, so water making is manual. Turn machine on, divert water to waste for 2 mins, test, then divert to the tank.
Power systems: Two 500w solar panels where added in 2025 to provide off grid power capacity. The charge is controlled by Victron MMPT Bluetooth controllers and a Victron Smart Shunt. This provides sufficient power to not have to worry about power when cruising the islands. A 3000w inverter allows all sorts of appliances to be run.
The Boat has a separate shore power circuit with a battery charger when you are at the marina with EWOF.
Navigation: The boat has recent B&G chartplotters installed. Newly installed AIS transceiver provides peace of mind at sea and is a requirement in many pacific countries now. The Boat is loaded with the 2025 NZ and Fiji charts.
IVC equipment
The boat and crew met the IVC requirements for NZ flagged vessels to go offshore in 2025. The boat includes most things you will need to meet this with the exception some of the safety equipment which we borrowed. We are happy to talk through what might need to be added to the boat to get to IVC standard.
