The Laurent Giles' Salar 40' is renowned for their envious bluewater cruising abilities in addition to an ideal live aboard. Tom Bowling was originally constructed in New Zealand then sailed to Australia followed by a circumnavigation of the Pacific. The current owner is the third owner.

Purchased in 2011, she has been sailed from Hobart to South Australia via Melbourne followed by a circumnavigation of Tasmania - all passages have been two handed.

Tom Bowling is owned by a retired on-water Marine Engineer who has maintained and developed the yacht to its current mechanical and navigational high standard. Plans were afoot to continue voyaging north to the Barrier Reef and on into the Pacific, until unforeseen circumstances forced a change of plans.

Among the many items that have been upgraded have been a top end rebuild of her strong and reliable Lister 59hp 4 cylinder diesel engine, new rigging in 2022, new refrigeration, refurbished decks, updated navigation aids including Starlink and Iridium Go... The list goes on!
