PIRATE II is a 1984 Mottle 33 cruising yacht based in Hobart.
These are a highly regarded, value for money Australian designed and built cruiser-racer, celebrated for its excellent sailing performance, solid construction, and surprisingly spacious interior.
Designed by Joe Adams and built by George Mottle (NSW), these versatile yachts are equally at home cruising offshore as they are competing in club and twilight races, with many having completed serious Bluewater passages.
Below deck, the layout is practical with generous accommodation (for its size) with good headroom making them a great cruising yacht for overnight or longer trips.
PIRATE II is is a good example of the design, and is well set up for easy cruising. With its freshly serviced engine, NEW anodes, and clean hull (all done July 2025) it presents an excellent entry into the sailing world!
It is well set up with a spray dodger, and full set of cockpit cushions for additional comfort. This vessel is easily sailed shorthanded with the furling headsail, mainsail in a boom bag with lazy jacks, and most lines lead back to the cabin top. There is easy access forward around the wide side decks, and there is an electric anchor winch on the bow for hassle free anchoring.
Equipment Highlights
- Yanmar 35HP shaft-drive diesel
- NEW DUNE 12V upright fridge
- NEW Hatches recently replaced
- NEW 240V Shore power connection
And much more................................
This vessel is powered by a 35HP Yanmar diesel engine. This provides easy cruising at 5 to 6 knots.
