Adams Concept 40 Just Listed

1995 Concept 40 designed by Joe Adams and built by Anderson. A proven bluewater cruising yacht and foundational Joe Adams design that evolved into the Bluewater series, Haven is a rugged, capable offshore cruiser with the comfort and practicality to live aboard or cruise extensively. Known for exceptional volume for length, the Concept 40 feels surprisingly spacious inside for a 40-foot bluewater cruiser, with a practical layout designed for comfortable long-term living aboard.

Unlike many mass-produced production boats, the Concept 40 is known for solid glassed-in construction, exceptional rigidity and comfortable, confidence-inspiring motion both upwind and off the wind. With integral keel, skeg-hung rudder and heavily glassed internal structure, the design is respected for load-carrying ability, directional stability and offshore durability. Built in an era when offshore cruising boats were designed first for seaworthiness.

A true passagemaker, Haven has successfully completed a two-handed circumnavigation via South Africa, Asia and South America, and has since cruised extensively along Australia's east coast.

- Safety-First Offshore Setup: Set up with safety in front of mind and therefore configured for single-handed sailing, with the majority of sail handling managed from the cockpit, reducing the need to go forward underway. This is supported by, among other things, jacklines and harnesses, a protected cockpit with full clears and stainless rails, mast steps, Hydrovane self-steering, autopilot, AIS and radar, HF/VHF and Starlink (optional) communications, EPIRBs, PLBs and AIS MOB beacons, all underpinned by a robust offshore hull design with integral keel and skeg-hung rudder.

- Exceptional Hull Condition: A 2025 survey found no osmosis, with exceptionally low hull moisture readings. The surveyor commented he never sees readings this low, even on brand new boats. The surveyor also noted the vessel's reputation for reliability and proven bluewater cruising.
- Protected Cockpit: With full clears, stainless cockpit rails, princess seats and extensive shade systems, allowing the cockpit to function as a secure, shaded and weather-protected outdoor living space. Particularly valuable for sun protection, tropical cruising and comfortably using the cockpit in rain or windy conditions.
- Australian Registered: Required for offshore/international cruising.

Buyer Notes:
- Rigging: Standing rigging was last renewed in 2013 and is due to be considered for updating. We have spoken with a local rigger, and this can be done locally and in the water without the vessel needing to be slipped or the mast removed.
- Liferaft: Liferaft would need to be renewed if sailing offshore. This is not required for coastal cruising.
- Interior Veneer / Ceiling Panels: There is some old water staining/damage to sections of veneer and ceiling panels from before our ownership. There are no current leaks.
- Insurance: Currently insured with Club Marine.
- Registration: Haven is currently NSW registered. For buyers wishing to register her in Queensland, the process appears straightforward using proof of purchase and vessel details provided at sale.

Current Haul-Out - 28 April - Inspections Welcome:
Inspection welcome. Haven will be slipped at a boatyard in Airlie Beach on 28 April 2026 for antifoul, PropSpeed and a hull cut and polish.
