From the design office of the well-regarded Bruce Roberts comes 'Red', a Roberts 30. Professionally built of solid fiberglass, with a stunning hard spray dodger for year round cruising, this is a vessel that turns heads where ever it pulls into port. 'Red' has been under the same experienced ownership since 2012 and during that time has been enjoyed for exploring the stunning waters of Southern Tasmania. With generous headroom, excellent amenities, and traditional charm, this vessel is also ideal as a comfortable and economical liveaboard. Well set up to be easily sailed by a novice learning the ropes, but with the capability to be enjoyed for extended coastal cruising, 'Red' is ready to turning your sailing dreams into reality!
With easy access through the large companionway, 'Red' invites you below into the generous, 'Tardis' like saloon. To port is a large dinette with comfortable seating for five on the neatly upholstered settees. To starboard is the well appointed inline galley. This features a front-opening Isotherm fridge/freezer, Dometic Origo metho stove and a sink with hand pump drawing water from a NEW stainless steel water tank. 'Red's' galley also has plenty of bench space and lots of storage in the attractive timber lockers. Moving forward, there is a spacious and well-lit head to port and additional storage opposite. This area can be closed off from the main cabin with a timber by-folding door which provides privacy to both the head area and the forward V-berth. 'Red' has excellent headroom throughout, which makes the boat a pleasure to spend time in. This, combined with the large windows, gives an abundance of natural light as well as the opportunity to soak in the views from your favourite anchorage. The accommodation is ideal for a liveaboard with a roomy V-berth with an inner spring mattress and a fill-in to make it a comfy double. There is single settee berth in the saloon and the opportunity for two quarter berths aft with the addition of mattresses (currently used for storage).
Stepping on board through the custom gateway on the stern leads you to a spacious cockpit with wheel steering and a binacle-mounted table. Further forward, there are winches for the genoa and an opening panel to port that protects the chartplotter and engine panel. The magnificent hard dodger provides excellent protection from the elements where the crew can sit on the comfortable cockpit cushions, unaffected by rain and wind. Moving forward, 'Red' offers a sense of safety and security with robust lifelines and many handholds. The fore deck has a Muir windless and a reef-it furler for easy short handed sailing.
Red was fitted with a new Beta 28HP diesel engine in 2009. This has less than 400 hours on the clock and provides easy and reliable cruising at 5 knots. Access is brilliant from inside the cabin or through a large hatch in the cockpit floor, allowing for easy servicing.
With its upgraded engine, build quality, and comfortable accommodation, 'Red' presents as an excellent package. Warm, inviting, and full of traditional charm, this vessel ticks all the boxes. Whether you want a comfortable cruiser that will take you along the coast and to your favourite anchorage, where the shallow draft allows a prime position, or want to enjoy the liveaboard lifestyle, 'Red' can do it all in style and comfort.
