Phlat Chat is a well-cared-for 2002 Lightwave 35 that hits the sweet spot of capability, onboard livability, and smart design. Designed and built to 2D survey by Lightwave Catamarans in Queensland, this Australian multihull is respected for its solid construction, practical layout, and genuinely enjoyable sailing.
Cruiser-ready and currently configured for liveaboard after a two-year voyage from Cairns to the Kimberley and back. Thoughtful liveaboard touches include a telescopic saloon table that converts to a double berth and a compact washing machine--both can be cleanly returned to the original factory layout if preferred.
Power comes from twin Volvo Penta diesels for dependable, economical running with a comfortable 5-7 knot cruise. The sail plan is versatile and efficient: square-top battened mainsail, battened furling self-tacking jib, screecher on a continuous furler, and an asymmetrical spinnaker for light-air work. For off-grid autonomy, a 925 watts solar array supports onboard systems, with a portable 3KVA generator as a backup and extra help with watermaking.
Currently on the hard for routine maintenance following the trip to the Kimberley she will be anti fouled, polished, surveyed and ready to go for the new owner.
In short, Phlat Chat is a capable, Australian-designed catamaran that's been actively cruised and carefully maintained--turnkey for coastal passages, weekends away, or comfortable liveaboard life.
Location: Cairns Price: $315,000 Inspection: By appointment; recent maintenance notes available.
