IS THIS THE BEST VALUE IN AUSTRALIA TODAY?
Quest is now for sale after a huge refit and a great result in the 2025 Melbourne to Osaka double handed yacht race, third on handicap and line honours, being sailed by two old blokes in their seventies!
Launched in 1995 Quest was immediately on the podium with a second in the Sydney to Hobart and a continuing history of success right up to a recent first line honours two handed division Melbourne to Hobart 2024.
Quest's reliability over the Osaka race and return is a testament to the continuing maintenance and improvement over the years which is highlighted by a 2016 major refit which included a new non turbo Yanmar diesel. In 2020 the rig was refurbished by Sydney Rigging and a number of new elements were replaced. A new forestay and backstay were fitted in 2024. A meticulous, thorough preparation for the Osaka race saw a Profurl furler and new headsail added and the already extensive sail wardrobe complemented by the addition of a new carbon mainsail and a new asymmetrical spinnaker. New self tailing Harken winches on the cabin top aided two handed sailing and a removable hard dodger was fitted for longer ocean passages (Removable quickly and easily for shorter passages or when fully crewed). Anew Raymarine Axiom plotter was part of a full electronics inspection and makeover adding to the new Starlink panel and Predict wind system.
Safety systems and equipment have been upgraded to category one plus and additional bulkheads fore and aft ensure complete safety in the event of a lost rudder or forward collision.
Quest is ready to race, short course or ocean racing, fully crewed or short handed. She is an Australian registered ship so what about Trans Tasman, around Australia or the next Osaka. Southern state owners could leave her here for the winter regattas at Airley Beach, Hamilton Island, Sail Magnetic and more in the colder months. Delivery to the East coast by arrangement.
For a complete list of upgrades, sail wardrobe and equipment call or arrange an inspection and test sail on the Gold coast.
