Noelex 25 Just Listed

We've enjoyed 18 years of family sailing, but our 3 kids are off to uni and it's time to move into an old(er) persons boat.

Green velvet is a 1982 model - so no pop top or internal liner - which makes her 120 kg faster. Combined with a decent set of sails, even an infrequent racer like myself can take home the occasional trophy. She's won a sunday island race and been second noelex across the line in a few marlay points... But also WAY back in the fleet when our daughter earned youngest competitor ( at 6 yo) or the years where cooking a roast in the straights was more important than winning.

For racing she has peter green sails - a barely used laminate genoa, unused storm sail. The main and jib are also by peter, but have seen a few years cruising - still good shape, but not race winning any longer. He makes great Noelex sails because he used to race on one. There's an older ( original) kite and a second peter green jib - both in good condition.

More importantly, in 18 years I've been able to set her up for easy solo sailing - which I've done every 2 weeks. Raymarine st 1000 auto tiller, all ( spectra) lines back to quality clutches on the cabin, plus some VERY nice anderson self tailers in the cockpit for the genoa / kite. The self tacking jib has a 2:1 purchase for single finger trimming, and a jib down haul coming back to the cockpit. Main has 2 reefing points, the traveller and mainsheet blocks are modern ronstan. The standing rigging was upgraded to thicker wire about 10 years ago. Dyneema keel wire is a year old - I replace them annually and there's a spare ready to go in. I sail her regularly so investing in quality gear has paid off.

There's a 2012 suzuki 8 hp four stroke in the well -it easily punches into the weather when nature surprises us. These have gear change on the tiller to negotiate docking at jetties etc. Professional service last year - including fresh impeller and thermostat.

The old green velvet is thankfully gone... Replaced with grey fabric a decade ago. Marine carpet on the floor, the metho stove still works but I wouldn't trust the water tank ( it hasn't been used in 18 years -I have too much microbiology knowledge). Original slide out food bin / esky/ table ( and a more compact table as well). Small solar panel keeps the battery happy.

The trailer is a mckay, great design. BUT she's a bit of a grandpas axe and at the moment just set up for mast up storage - last year the rear quarter was replaced by Bairnsdale Trailers ( nb not gal), as were the springs, axles, brakes etc. Registered and an early 1980's model so no adr plate ( aka vic rds doesn't have a gvm limit ). I have it set up as 2 T because that's all green velvet needs ( < 1900 kg in race trim), but theoretically you could upgrade to break away brakes if you wanted to load her up for cruising. To be honest - you'd be better buying a more expensive cruising Noelex if you want to travel extensively - the tyres look new but are about 10 years old, the spare wheel would need replacing, and it only has a light board at the moment.

Price is negotiable depending on equipment level. As an example, you can swap the suzuki 4 stroke for her old tohatsu 2 stroke ( and my sons tinny will thank you). I'd happily replace those self tailing anderson winches with some plain anderson 10's, or even the original ratcheting blocks ( and my new boat would thank you). I'm pretty sure I have a buyer for the racing sails ( esp that genoa)? But I'd strongly suggest you try her as is - I've never regretted these upgrades.

Currently in mast up storage in Paynesville, so it's EASY to nip out for a test sail on days I work there / weekends by arrangement.

Nb she is not the best Noelex out there - regular use has given her battle scars. Woodwork is overdue for some tlc, she had antifoul (a year old ), and she has had a few ( professional) repairs over the years - solid and water tight, but not a show pony. She is a joy to sail, and it's a lot less stressful camping with kids on a cheaper Noelex than on one twice the price..... I definitely haven't regretted having a basic Noelex in the past 18 years!
