Cruising the waterways or fishing offshore: Sportsman's own framing for the 262 is that both are a day's work, and the boat is built to swap between them without a compromise showing. Eight metres, 2.87-metre beam, 22 degrees of transom deadrise and 689 litres of fuel behind up to 500 horsepower.
The headline is the pair of side entry doors that swing a full 180 degrees, unusual in a 26-footer and transformative for how the boat gets used: boarding, swimming, diving, or bringing a fish over the side without lifting it over a gunwale. Behind them, twin pressurised 114-litre aquarium livewells with viewing panels are insulated and double as coolers, with macerated in-deck fish boxes port and starboard of the leaning post and two large insulated bow boxes forward.
Detail work sets it apart from the class. The hardtop frame is bent from a single piece of D-tube extrusion rather than cut and welded, with kingfish-style rod holders angled off the sides and moulded-in navigation lights. Bow bolsters double as seating and as knee pads for fighting fish. There is a thru-hull windlass with 90 metres of rope and foot controls at the bow, freshwater and raw water washdowns, dual fuel fills both sides, and a recessed four-step boarding ladder.
The console holds an enclosed head with electric porcelain toilet and holding tank discharge, dedicated trolling motor battery storage and two waterproof 10-watt wireless chargers. SportLink runs Garmin displays and JL Audio over a pre-installed NMEA 2000 network. Factory-ready for a Seakeeper 1, with a second station available. Yacht and NMMA certified, 10-year hull warranty.
