2002 CATANA 401 OWNER'S VERSION - PROVEN BLUEWATER CATAMARAN

Carbon Mast | Daggerboards | Extensive Recent Refit | Atlantic & Pacific Ocean Crossings | Never Chartered | Australian Registered

Located in South East Queensland, Australia

Offered for sale is TATA, a 2002 Catana 401 Owner's Version, built in France and exceptionally well equipped for serious offshore and long-term cruising.

TATA has had only two owners since new and has never been chartered. With her carbon mast, daggerboards, quality sail wardrobe, extensive cruising equipment and substantial inventory of spare parts, she represents an opportunity to purchase a genuinely proven ocean-going Catana.

Most importantly, TATA isn't simply equipped for bluewater cruising -- she has done it.

She has crossed both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, transited the Panama Canal, cruised extensively throughout the Mediterranean and successfully sailed all the way to Australia.

TATA'S STORY

I am listing TATA on behalf of my father, Bill, who purchased her in Greece in 2018 directly from the original owner.

Owning a capable bluewater cruising catamaran had been a lifelong dream for Bill, and TATA gave him the opportunity to make that dream a reality.

Together, Bill and TATA spent years cruising throughout the Mediterranean and enjoying countless unforgettable adventures.

When COVID changed his plans, Bill made the decision to sail TATA home to Australia.

What followed was an incredible bluewater voyage. TATA crossed the Atlantic Ocean, transited the Panama Canal and then crossed the Pacific Ocean on her journey to Australia.

Over thousands of nautical miles and multiple oceans, TATA proved herself to be a capable, comfortable and dependable offshore cruising catamaran.

Having fulfilled his lifelong dream and safely brought TATA home to Australia, Bill has now decided it is time for her next chapter and another owner to enjoy everything this boat has to offer.

SAILING & RIGGING

The Catana 401 is well regarded as a genuine performance cruising catamaran. TATA's retractable daggerboards and carbon mast provide a significant advantage when sailing upwind while retaining the comfort and practicality expected from a long-distance cruising catamaran.

Her sailing equipment includes:

* Carbon mast
* Retractable daggerboards
* Hydranet/Dyneema composite mainsail
* Hydranet/Dyneema composite genoa
* Storm sails
* Spinnaker
* Profurl genoa furler
* New lazy-jack boom bag

A substantial inventory of engine service parts and spares is also included.

POWER & OFF-GRID CAPABILITY

TATA has been extensively equipped for independent cruising and extended periods away from marinas.

* 4 x new 200W solar panels - 800W total

* 2500W inverter
* Additional 1500W pure sine-wave inverter

One particularly valuable feature is TATA's electrical documentation.

Electrical wiring is individually identified using numbered tags, with documentation showing what each circuit is for, where it originates and where it terminates. Electrical schematics are also included.

This is an enormous advantage when maintaining or troubleshooting a long-distance cruising vessel.

A GENUINELY PROVEN BLUEWATER CATAMARAN

TATA is not a boat that has simply been fitted out with the intention of one day going offshore.

She has already done it.

She has cruised the Mediterranean, crossed the Atlantic Ocean, transited the Panama Canal, crossed the Pacific Ocean and sailed to Australia.

With her carbon mast, daggerboards, extensive recent refit, twin Yanmar diesels, 800W solar system, 480Ah house bank, watermaker, comprehensive navigation and communications equipment, substantial safety equipment and enormous inventory of spare parts, TATA is set up for an owner looking to continue cruising rather than start from scratch.

After years of adventures and fulfilling Bill's lifelong dream, the time has come for TATA to take her next owners on theirs.

Located in South East Queensland, Australia.

Inspections are welcome.
