The Catana 472 Caligo 'Duchesse II' is a limited edition, high performance catamaran designed for bluewater cruising. Fully equipped and thoroughly tested, this ocean cruiser underwent a comprehensive refit in 2018, ensuring it is ready for extended voyages. Upgrades include new Yanmar 55HP diesel engines, new sails, new electronics and a range of additional improvements, allowing you to set sail with confidence.
The vessel's Aramid fiber construction, combined with a carbon mast, boom, and bowsprit, ensures impressive performance even in light winds. Under sail, 'Duchesse II' is powered by a fully battened mainsail and features a unique headsail configuration. A self tacking jib, radial cut screecher, and Code 0, each set on furlers on a carbon prodder offer precise sail trim and optimal balance on all points of sail. With a very light displacement of just 8.9T the current owner has achieved speeds of over 18 knots and enjoys daily runs of 180-200 nautical miles, demonstrating the boat's cruising potential.
When motoring, her Yanmar engines, installed new in 2018, deliver a cruising speed of 7 knots and a top speed of 10 knots, ensuring reliability and efficiency. The 2018 refit also included new 15mm teak decking on the sugar scoops and throughout the expansive cockpit, enhancing both aesthetics and durability.
The twin helm configuration offers excellent visibility, ease of docking, and tight manoeuvring, with hardcovers above each helm station for added protection. When at anchor, the spacious saloon and elevated galley create an inviting, open plan layout with great visibility. Whether entertaining or relaxing, 'Duchesse II' offers comfort and functionality in equal measure.
The port hull offers versatile guest accommodation, featuring a spacious queen berth in the aft cabin that can easily convert into two singles, with a central walkway for convenience. Midships, you'll find ample storage space and a practical bathroom with a single head and shower. The forward cabin, also with a queen bed, benefits from Catana's unique side opening escape hatch, providing excellent airflow when at anchor.
The starboard hull is dedicated to the owner's comfort, featuring a large aft berth, extensive storage, and ample hanging space, along with a luxuriously spacious bathroom located in the bow.
"Duchess II" is Australian registered and fully equipped for fast, comfortable cruising. Some of the additional upgrades in 2018 and extras include:
Hull & deck gel coat sanded back and re-coated with gelcoat

Remarks
The current owner since 2007, purchased 'Duchesse II' in the Caribbean and explored the islands extensively before sailing her through the Panama canal, across the Pacific through French Polynesia, Tonga, Fiji, New Cal, Vanuatu, then to Thailand twice and of course the whole East Coast of Australia. Major refit in Thailand in 2018 included new teak in the cockpit and stern steps, new engines and New Tasker sails. If you're in the market for a capable blue water performance cruising catamaran with exceptional build quality, fully equipped for long distance voyages in complete comfort and safety, then this rare Catana 472 Caligo 'Duchesse II' is well worth inspecting.
