This 8.7m Crowther Shockwave, "Moonshine", brings with it fantastic extended cruising ability thanks to enormous space and smart design. Built by the legendary Australian boat designer and builder Lock Crowther, who first built in 1959 while he was still a teenager. Over 2500 boats were built using his various designs. Crowther Cats are known for applying innovative materials at the time, like GRP-foam sandwich construction, and concepts like wave piercing bows. "Moonshine" is no exception to the Crowther lineage with a 5.8m beam and efficient design.
Moonshine's cockpit provides a wide and spacious outdoor area that is well protected and easily accessible, complemented by a dinghy davit system and twin solar panels, with the Aspre Inflatable tender and Yamaha 2p outboard included in the sale. Home to twin helm wheels and chairs, the cockpit brings great visibility and easy sailing operation with all lines leading back to the cockpit. The saloon opens up entirely to the cockpit, allowing easy passage to the interior. The saloon is spacious and versatile with a large 'L'-shape settee across the forward bulkhead that faces aft, while a well-equipped navigation station sits to port. Engine compartment access is easy to get to in this area, where a Yamaha 9.9hp High Thrust outboard sits central, with 80L of fuel and 320L of water.
The starboard side hull lays home to a well-equipped galley with fantastic built-in refrigeration and good workspace. The open-plan layout provides easy liveaboard usability with the added benefit of smart storage throughout. Moving forward from the galley, one of two accommodation areas can be found with a spacious double berth perched to starboard and a single berth in the bow.
The port hull provides further living, with a mirrored double berth to starboard and single in the forepeak. Turning toward the aft, a large and spacious head with shower and electric toilet service the vessel.
Deck space above, lends uncluttered mobility when moving from the cockpit to the bow, where a pair of netted trampolines sit forward and a pair of dagger boards side to port and starboard. The covers are in great condition, being NEW in 2019, with the addition of a great comprehensive sail inventory consisting of a NEW 2018 Rolly Tasker Mainsail (Excellent Condition), No. 1 Headsail (Good Condition), No. 2 Headsail (Good Condition), a self-tacking Headsail (Good Condition), storm jib (Good Condition) and a Spinnaker.
Moonshine is a great and highly regarded catamaran package, ready for its next adventure and highly capable for extended cruising. With its 5.8m beam, this vessel presents exceptionally clever spaces on board to maximise usability.
