Designed for performance cruising by the renowned multihull expert, Ian Farrier and built in South Australia. This bluewater cat has done the east coast of Australia as far as Cooktown over her lifetime of only 3 owners and never charted. Our boats name, ALCATRAZ, is derived from old Spanish for PELICAN. Unlike the infamous island she is the perfect escape to the freedom of the sea.
Built in vacuum bagged epoxy foam and carbon, each step of her construction has been documented and upgrades catalogued, providing a new owner ready access to those unique details that simplify the running af any boat.
As a comfortable liveaboard she has 2 double cabins aft and a third with 2 singles convertible to kingsize bed, accessed from forward port. Each hull has its own head with shower. The starboard galley leaves the deck saloon spacious and the lounge seating and table can convert to another kingsize bed if needed.
Capable of single handling from the helm with a competent skipper, ALCATRAZ has self tacking jib, electric main halyard, reefing and anchor. Plus instruments all accessible from starboard helm. The large rear deck has a second helm on the port.
Quality equipment includes Harken winches, Rocna anchor, Muir windlass, Gebo hatches, spectra watermaker and powerful and quiet D400 wind generator, plus solar.
Twin Yanmar 30 hp motors with SD20 sail drives, carbon Kiwi feathering props give economical cruising around 7 knots under power.
Capable of 800-nm on single engine at 5 knots. She sails a comfortable 9 knots in a 15 to 20 knot wind and does surprisingly well with a head wind for a cat.
Out of water insurance survey July 2025.
