Ever dreamed of owning a 40ft cat but couldn't afford it? What if you could own and maintain it for a 1/4 of the price. Fantastic opportunity to live the rotto dream with 4 double cabins, two bathrooms with showers, endless deck space, big tramp up front, seperate indoor and outdoor dining spaces, plus authorised use of 2 Longreach moorings and one in Stark Bay when you need to get away!
Very easy to sail, cruises along at 8-10kts (faster with a following sea), and best of all your friends sit around the outdoor lounge whilst underway with their drinks and snacks sitting firmly on the table while you keep lookout with the autopilot on. Monohull sailors are jealous of your speed, comfort, and the fact you are sailing flat while they are heeled right over, even upwind. Power boaters are burning $100's of dollars of fuel while their spines are rattling and yelling their conversations to each other while breathing in diesel fumes. Even on dead flat windless days the small diesels effortlessly glide you along at 7 kts sipping 1.5 litres an hour each. Go and sit on the tramp and you can't even hear them!
I've been in partnership with the three other owners for the past three years and it has been hassle free. $5000 a year each covers the pen at Challenger Harbour Freo (you know there are no cat pens available anywhere in Perth), insurance, rego, basic maintenance and FUEL!! She has just been anti fouled and the 5 year out of water survey was completed at the same time with zero issues to keep the insurance company happy. Any agreed upgrades or major repairs are discussed with the group before extra funds are requested. This boat is very well maintained and cared for. We have recently upgraded the power system with Victron solar charge controllers, 3000w inverter/charger, new solar panels, and 400 amp hours of lithium batteries, plus an intuitive touchscreen display.
About you: Easy to get along with, respectful, and you'll leave the boat cleaner than you found it. You will need some prior sailing experience to satisfy the insurance company, and you can't finance your share against the boat. It's owned in four equal shares and managed by the group with its own bank account and partnership agreement. We have an online booking sheet and share the peak summer time evenly, and there are plenty of unbooked times throughout the year to take advantage of the good winter weather.
I've sailed her to the Abrolhos and it's a highly capable, safe, and fast boat. Feel free to call anytime for a chat, and a test sail is available to serious buyers. Be quick!
