SV Renegade is a 2011 Lagoon 400 sloop rigged production catamaran. She is the three-cabin, 2-head sought after owners version, which provides a full starboard hull for the owners privacy, with a great walk-in shower. Renegade is a fully equipped, well maintained boat totally ready for a turnkey step aboard off-grid lifestyle.
Renegade is 11.9m long (39.3 ft), 7.3m wide (23.9ft), 20.1m high (66ft. ) Headroom
7ft, Draft 4ft (1.22m) and displacement of 10.25 tonnes.
The Lagoon 400 is possibly the most spacious 40ft cat on the market, she is easy to sail single handed, an electric winch at the raised helm station make all sail manoeuvres pretty easy where all lines run back to. These boats are one of the French yard's most successful models to date. The innovation in the Lagoon 400 is the amount of living space Lagoon managed to pack into this boat.
There is sliding window connecting the galley to the cockpit at the same level, keeping everyone in the conversation, creating a large open space. There are three cabins and 2 heads. Cabins are light and bright, well-ventilated and fans in all.
The 400 is built using Lagoon's tried and trusted method, which is solid laminate below the waterline and balsa core above, including the decks. The hulls and decks are infused with polyester, and Lagoon adds vinylester resin to the hulls as an osmotic barrier.
My wife and I are from the UK, but emigrated to Adelaide in South Australia over 20 years ago. We retired a few years early to follow our dreams. After searching high and low for a long time, we eventually found and bought our beautiful boat Renegade in Grenada in the Caribbean from an American couple, who had travelled from the US where she was registered to USCG standards, and US VAT was paid.
We have owned Renegade for 2 years, with plans to remain aboard for many more years, however, our plans have now recently changed, and we have to move on.
Renegade is currently registered in the UK, and EU VAT is NOT paid. She is fully insured with Topsail Insurance (UK).
Renegade entered the EU from Gibraltar after I sailed her over from the Caribbean as recently as June 2025, so Renegade is effectively allowed temporary import status for the full 18 months before the clock needs re-setting out of the EU and before VAT is payable.
We had the forward bulkhead replaced which is a known Lagoon 400 weak point in 2024 by a professional boatbuilder (Roland Lewis) in Grenada.
I have traced her history and as far as I am aware she has never been chartered. I believe we are we are her 5th owners.
Renegade is now for sale by us, currently sailing around Mallorca in the Mediterranean Sea, heading East towards Italy, then have a berth booked on the hard stand in Valetta, Malta, between November 2025 and April 2026 for winter months where any inspection can be carried out there or if not before.
We will be selling her as a fully equipped boat as we can't fly back to Australia with the amount of gear onboard, however, we will be made available for a full handover, and we will dispose of anything her prospective new owners do not want to keep.
A full inventory is being prepared, so you will know exactly what we are including in the sale... I will pass that on to any prospective buyers, as well as a maintenance spreadsheet which I started after I bought her as I wasn't provided with one.
Renegade is available for sale now, and we will try our hardest to facilitate any viewings you require, keeping you appraised of our position and including video walkthroughs, or we can head for specific ports (within reason) to meet you on our way to Malta. We will also be available after the sale as you will never remember all the operating and service methods I can provide on handover.
We have been boat owners for a long time and appreciate the logistics in buying a boat can be stressful, however we will go above and beyond to make sure your 100% happy before you sail away yourselves, like we did aboard her 2 years ago.
Although Renegade is in great condition, as with all boats 14 years old, they could all do with a little extra TLC here and there. Renegade is no exception.
Our asking price is Australian Dollar AU$550,000 which is negotiable.
