NAUTILUS is a Tim Mumby designed 48 foot Aluminium Performance Sailing Catamaran.
The Mumby 48 is well renowned worldwide for strength, speed and safety. Many examples have circumnavigated (see YouTube: Sailing Jupiter).
NAUTILUS is fully off grid and fitted out for extended passage making. With three double cabins and one single berth.
Recently equipped for world cruising NAUTILUS was Initially built and launched in 2015 with hulls, insulation, engines, rigging, spars and sails completed.
Internals were completed in 2022/23 with all new equipment from hull up: wiring, plumbing, electronics, head linings, galley, toilets, showers, deck upgrades, heating, rudder upgrades, water maker, painted, antifouled.
NAUTILUS is a pedigree aluminium performance cruising catamaran. She is ready to cruise the world, but could benefit from some completion internally such as shelves and some internal linings. Pipework and wiring have deliberately been left exposed for easy maintenance. She has been fitted out with the lightest materials. And where lining materials were not needed, the hull/insulation was left bare, which saves weight. A critical component of fast cruising Cats is to keep them light and not to overload them.
The interior is spray insulated with 1 - 2" closed cell foam and lined with Garnica ultralight ply strips on the ceilings and hull sides.
She is not perfect in terms of finish. And has a few minor dents and scratches. However, if you do dent or damage the hulls you can simply cut out the offending piece and weld in a new plate. That is the beauty of aluminium. Plus, being non corrosive, the hulls are very low maintenance.
NAUTILUS is not a harbour gin palace. She has bumps and scratches from adventure sailing. If you want a glossy, white, polished Yacht please look elsewhere.
The current owner is a highly experienced professional Yacht/Tall ship skipper with 40 years sailing experience. Recent passages on Nautilus include North of Scotland to Spain and Spain to Amsterdam via France and England.

FAQ's
Are the hulls damaged?
No. NAUTILUS has no damage. The Hull is 100% all OK. Just scratches and blemishes from a couple of years of adventure sailing around Europe.
How old is the rigging?
The rigging is eight years old. I know it is in very good condition, and regularly inspected. For the first five years, before I purchased, the boat was hardly used which minimised wear on the rigging and sails.
Any electrolysis?
None.
Anodes?
Just replaced all four main anodes and I use old anodes to hang around the boat when docked.
Unencumbered by debt?
Yes. I own 100% of the boat.
Crash bulkheads?
Yes, as in the Tim Mumby design. Forward and aft on each hull.
Registration?
UK Small ships Registration Attached.
Do you have the original plans?
I own the plans - paper copies - I know that Tim has them all digital nowadays.
Did you build NAUTILUS?
I did not build her. She was built by a marine engineer in Bristol, England. Launched 2015. He built hulls, installed engines, and steering gear. The mast, rig and sails were professionally installed by a UK rigging company AllSpars and Ulman sails.
I, and a team of four professionals, completed the interior plus ALL wiring, plumbing and electronics etc in 2022.
Where is she?
She is floating in Entrepot Haven, Zeeburgerkade 832 a, 1019 HT Amsterdam, Netherlands. If not sold she will depart for Scotland in April 2024.
What is she like?
She is built like a battleship. Everything installed is for strength and functionality at sea. I am super delighted with the boat - she suits my style completely - woolly fisherman's jumpers and big boots! NAUTILUS is not a gin palace. Not shiny and white. But she is a super, strong vessel equipped for extended offshore cruising.
Update for 2024
We are anchored in the very pretty Dutch village of Monnickendam and have spent the last two weeks servicing engines, shaking off the winter cobwebs and getting the boat ready for a summer cruising in Holland and Denmark.
Complete new rudder assembly in stainless steel with Delrin bushes just fitted.
New NACA dagger boards in composite wood, carbon fibre and stainless steel are being built here in Amsterdam and should be ready soon.
