Are you ready to sail the seas in peace and harmony with nature? Look no further! This state-of-the-art sailing boat is equipped with electric motors that offer a quite, zero cost, odour-free experience. Perfect for those who cherish tranquility and the environment.
Designed by the renowned Roger Simpson, Windvane is a well-constructed, proven cruising catamaran. The hulls are composed of a fibreglass end grain balsa core sandwich epoxy/glass. The strong and lightweight construction provides excellent sailing performance.
When under power, Windvane is propelled by two Krautler 9kw electric pod motors. Quite, no smell, no vibration, and no pollution. 28KW hours of Lithium batteries and 650 watts of solar panels ensure you can motor for several hours before you need to use the 9KW backup generator.
Key Features:
o Quite Electric Motors: Enjoy the serene sound of the waves without the noise of a traditional engine.
o Eco-Friendly: Reduce your carbon footprint and sail with a clear conscience.
o The Electric Pods are Zero Maintenance: Spend more time on the water and less time in the boatyard.
o No engine fumes: No more unpleasant engine smells, just fresh sea air.
o Zero fuel costs while the batteries have energy: If the wind isn't helping, enjoy up to 5 hours of motoring without the need to start the generator (depends on your speed and the amount of sunshine). After this, switch to hybrid mode and still enjoy minimal fuel costs.
Windvane has a very functional layout and has been nicely finished to an excellent standard not usually seen on Simpson designs. A modern, light fitout that surpasses many newer vessels, its two queen cabins and one double cabin are light, bright and comfortable. All cabins have doors for privacy and plenty of head room to sit up in bed and read or watch a movie.
There is also a fourth, single bunk for visitors in the port corridor.
She is fitted with two roomy, modern heads, with the aft port bathroom having a separate shower.
The generous saloon has a large lounge and dining table and enjoys good ventilation. There is also a dedicated navigation table adjacent. The galley down is located on the starboard side and is fitted with a refrigeration unit, a pantry area and abundance of bench space and storage for extended cruising. A large freezer is located under a lounge bench seat.
Windvane has a roomy cockpit with a fixed hardtop that houses the solar panels as well as a soft bimini extending over the transom and davits for extra shade. The helm station affords good views to all angles and has an electric winch for the halyard and headsail sheeting. The catamaran is very easy to sail shorthanded with all lines returning to the helm.
