ADAMS 44, fibreglass, built in Brisbane in 1989. Australian registered.
This boat is similar to the Carina 44, but was built in a mould by a Brisbane shipbuilder,
She is fibreglass/foam sandwich hull with glass over ply deck.
Correctly built and laid up, there is no osmosis.
I purchased her in 1997 in Brisbane and sailed her down to Sydney.
She was my potential dream boat to sail around the world.
I rented a larger warehouse in Sydney for my business, big enough to put her inside while I worked on her.
I spent more than 6000hours and 4 years rebuilding her.
I didnt like the fitout, so ended up spending 3 months taking her back to bare hull (almost)
Work done:
Complete redesign of interior.
Full teak fitout professionally done
Transom extended to incorporate steps and gas bottle storage (extended the boat by about 800mm)
I spent 6 full weeks with high build epoxy and torture board fairing the complete hull to near perfect.
Painted in 2 pack polyurethane, topsides and deck.
Mast was sent to rigger and rebuilt, reinforced and repainted with all new running and standing rigging
( note, mast was not installed until 2017, but was kept in my warehouse. Mast has never been tuned)
I based the fittout on a Beneteau47 I saw. The fitout and dimensions are very comfortable to live aboard.
As stated earlier, lots of work needed.
She has been in the Marina for 21 years.
The sun and weather has taken its toll.
Needs repainting outside. Some outside teakwork needs repairing.
She has not been slipped for 4 years. I put 4 coats of Micron CSC ablative on her last slip. It has barnies now, but the thick ablative antifoul coating makes it easier to scrape off.
Also needs internal finishing.
The teakwork generally is still excellent, as has not been used or lived in.
Fuel tanks need sorting out, some final finishing touches need doing.
Sole is only template ply. Will need proper ply sheets fitted eventually Not too difficult using current ply as templates.
A Few other things like trim, hinges, battens etc need finishing.
Happy to show you truthfully what needs doing, but you need to inspect her to appreciate what is offering.
She needs someone dedicated with good boat skills and patience. Livaboard would be ideal.
So there you are. I am 71 and should have sold her many years ago. I had a lot of offers to buy, but could not part with all my hard work and dreams.
Reality has now set in..
$50k will buy her, but best offer in the next month will own her.
I will not accept an offer to buy her unless you have inspected it, or $50k unconditional for a sale now.
She is available for viewing on Sydney Harbour almost 24/7 as she is on a marina on Parramatta River and I am retired.
Contact by email, or if you want to talk, text me first or leave a message as I dont answer calls if I dont know who you are.
I welcome your genuine inquiries.
