Probably the best value boat in the country - Honawai is a beautiful custom built Kiwi cutter rigged sloop with a double diagonal Kauri hull sheaved with the west epoxy system. In her early life she was used extensively for offshore cruising in the Pacific, and in later years as a bay sailor, built for offshore conditions. Hull and topside fully redone in 2020 with a major refit in 2021 that included full interior refit, resteppping the mast, complete re rigging, new 4 panel solar with Victron controller, rewired mast, all new lines (halyards in dyneema), through hulls, and much more. There is ONE ISSUE - she has a Yanmar JH2 turbo diesel (3 cylinder), It has just had a full top and bottom end rebuild and comes with a new water pump. Engine is ready for final assembly (sump/head/ancillaries) and install. Receipts for over $55,000 in work since 2020, and she's in great shape. Comes with a slightly tired but serviceable Avon Rover R3.10 tender with a 6hp Evinrude motor. Sail Inventory
Headsail, staysail and mainsail are in original condition (50%) and fully battened. The mainsail is protected in a new boom cover and lazy jacks
Mast / Rigging
Mast and boom sections are fabricated in aluminium. The mast is deck-stepped and is secure. Mast and boom were taken off the vessel for a full standing rig replacement and electrical cabling with new lights and fittings. The mast and boom sections are polished and sealed. The double spreader cutter-rigged vessel has new standing rigging that was replaced in 2021.
Deck Gear
Inner and forestay furlers with new colour-coded furler lines and sheets. Stainless chainplates and stem plates were secured through the deck.
