This Beneteau 405 First built in 1986 was the 81st off the production line. Sold into the USA market it was sailed on Lake Michigan before heading to British Columbia to sail the west coast between Canada and Mexico. It was in Mexico where the co-owners and present owners of Hydrovane self-steering systems renamed her 'Hydroquest 'and set sail around the world promoting their product. Due to pirates and terrorism in the Philippines and Malacca Straits they shortened their journey leaving the yacht in Australia.

The present owners have enjoyed sailing this beautiful yacht around Melbourne's waters before sailing the East Coast and enjoying the tropics. Health and other things have halted their enjoyment of Grand Cru so it's up to others to take her on the next adventure.

The yacht comes with all the equipment to enjoy twilight racing around the buoys or continuing on its adventures. The yacht is set up for shorthanded sailing by the present owners of the yacht with reefing lines coming back to the cockpit, two personal epirbs, and enough harnesses and PLV for crew. They have also added a wind generator, new batteries and returned the boat back to 240v and changing to Australian plugs. Also, awnings have been added along with a mobile air conditioner for when living aboard in dock. Recent maintenance in 2022 has had the keel bolts replaced and all sea cocks replaced. She is fully set up for cruising with the speed and comfort with the advantage of having had a 60cm sugar scoop and swim step professionally added to her transom.

Famed yacht designer ROBERT PERRY has this to say about the Beneteau First 405 "This boat shows almost ideal dimensions in each area. I found I could push and pull a little but I couldn't make a significant improvement in the layout. The designer of this boat is Jean Berret. You would expect that with all that interior the appearance of the boat would suffer but this is a handsome boat with updated Nautor's Swan school styling. There is a nice, subtle spring to the sheerline. The ends are short but they look aesthetically balanced. The boat is moderately beamy and gives the general appearance of being a fast boat. If you take the time to really study the deck of the Beneteau, you will notice several things. The detailing is excellent. The general finish level of the tooling is excellent. Many standard items appear to have been rethought. This is best illustrated in the companionway hatch detail. The companionway hatch and the main cabin skylight hatch have been integrated into one unit. These boats deserve a lot of attention. They are strong and sail well. They are handsome and are carefully laid out. ".

This lovely Beneteau 405 is set up and ready to go sailing. Please call to book a viewing.
