This vessel has only had two owners since new. The current owners purchased her in France in 2008 and have cruised extensively, including Atlantic and Indian oceans as well as sailing across the Pacific in 2018 just two up.
She is a fast cruiser, both up and downwind, but excels on a reach. The owners work on a conservative sailing speed of 7 knots, but it's easy to hit 9 or 10 knots making passages effortless. Indeed, on trips up and down the coast they have travelled from Bundaberg to the Whitsundays in 3 or 4 days non stop. However she is equally happy cruising along at 6 knots if you're not in a hurry and want to coast hop from anchorage to anchorage.
The specification of this yacht is for the tall mast and shorter keel giving great performance but making it easier to get into shallower bays. She is equipped with a brand new Reefit furler for the 100% Genoa as well as a staysail also on a Reefit furler giving great options for different wind strengths and easy handling. Alongside this if the wind is light, say below 10 knots is a laminate Code Zero on a Karver endless furling system which can be left in situ and allows the sail to be easily be furled or unfurled by one person.
This range of Beneteau Firsts was designed by the Farr design group for Beneteau, starting with the very successful First 40.7 and following on with the First 47.7. The design has been proven to be a strong capable boat on both the racecourse as well as long distance cruising. Indeed many have crossed the Atlantic Ocean and sailed around the world.
Stepping aboard one imagines due to the relatively low freeboard a minimalist cabin below decks. Nothing could be further from the truth, indeed most people are amazed at the space and luxurious feel. The below decks space is very similar to the Beneteau Oceanis 473, no doubt the interior designer mixed and matched between the two.
As an added bonus, antifoul applied July 2023 with 3 x coats of Altex No 5 plus. 4 x coats on rudder, keel, bow and waterline.

Engine
2001 built, 75 HP Yanmar shaft drive, engine hours 4514. Shaft drive to 3 blade Featherstream feathering propellor. This is the 56 kW Yanmar with a turbocharger. Model 4JH3-TE. This is I directly cooled with a built in heat exchanger. There are the usual engine panel with tachometer, hour meter, fuel gauge and low oil pressure and high water temperature alarms. The Morse control has a removable control handle to keep it flush when sailing. The drive is a standard winch handle fitting. The sea water cooling is provided via a seacock and through a Vetus filter. Alternator is a retrofit 120 ah, fitted with Serpentine belts. Engine serviced in August 2023, with new impeller, oil and fuel filters. When inspected no bug degradation to filters. Volvo shaft seal replaced June 2021. Engine mounts replaced in 2016. Exhaust elbow replaced with stainless steel HDI unit October 2018. Turbo stripped and serviced October 2018. Heat exchanger stripped and serviced October 2018. All at 4000 hours. STEERING: The wheel is a large diameter sunk into the cockpit sole. It drives via Vectran cables to the rudder quadrant. The rudder passes through the hull via an upper and lower Jefa roller bearing system, which gives a very light control. The steering is very direct, only 1 1/4 turns lock to lock giving the steering a feel not too dissimilar to tiller steering. Seacocks and thru hull fittings have been replaced approx 10-12 years ago with Bronze and DZR valves.

Deck Gear
The large cockpit situated at the back of the boat is protected by a larger than a standard dodger and bimini which is robustly constructed but aesthetically pleasing. Within this area the deep cockpit and coamings give a feeling of protection. The Bimini arch has stainless steel guard rails going forward to the gate, where forward of the gate the guarding reverts to twin wires. Behind the wheel is the open locker for the liferaft stowage, above which are the twin davits. Below which is a bathing platform which folds down to allow the ladder to be attached for swimming off of. In the cockpit sole is a fold up table, which is excellent for dining, but also great for sailing since it folds down out of the way.
There are 12 x Lewmar Ocean opening port lights, with some spares and blanking plates. The 6 x opening Lewmar deck hatches were all replaced in the last 8 years.
The entry hatch is sliding Perspex and 2 x wooden lockable washboards also with tie down points.

Teak toe rails add to safety.
2 x large cockpit lockers which provides for great stowage.
2 x large lazarettes which are surprisingly deep, and give good access to the steering mechanism, and to the diesel Genset.
In the forward section is the sail locker, which is voluminous, great for storing sails warps fenders etc while sailing.
Extra large fenders for added protection in harbour.
Various mooring lines and spare sheets etc.
Magma gas kettle style BBQ and gas bottle.
2 x other 3 kg gas bottles in separate gas locker.
Remarks
This yacht has been modified to make cruising easy, pleasant and comfortable. The anchor locker has been modified and is now full depth, allowing the 100 m of chain to drop and deploy with a minimum of snagging. This combined with the Lofrans windlass, new in 2016 and remote hand held controller and chain counter makes anchoring easy.
Another feature is the large stainless steel arch and bimini made and fitted in New Zealand in 2019. This incorporates the stern pushpit and adds side rails forward to the gate making the cockpit feel safe and secure at sea. Mounted on this are 4 x 150W solar panels giving 600 W to the Victron MPPT controller.
Mounted on the stern are a pair of stainless steel davits, below which hangs a New Zealand made OC Tender. Those in the know regard this as one of the finest tenders going, constructed of fibreglass foam sandwich makes it both light and strong. It comes with its own folding stainless steel ladder to make boarding easy after swimming or snorkelling. It was tested in New Zealand to determine how it performed if full of water, it wouldn't sink, new these now cost approx NZ$ 12000.
Other cruising features include sun covers between the Dodger and bimini, plus side and rear sun covers to keep the cockpit cooler. Also a cockpit enclosure to fit in those cooler months.
The Beneteau First 47.7 is a proven blue water cruising boat, surprisingly easy to handle by just 2 persons. However they are equally good at coast hopping.
The sailplane means this boat will move well in light winds without needing to motor. However when the wind picks up, she will pick up and go. In strong winds she is easy to reef down both fore and aft sails and look after the owners.

Highly recommended viewing if you have been looking for a total ocean going package without breaking the bank. She has some serious offshore miles under her keel and is ready to head back out with new owners.
