With an impressive Bluewater history, excellent sea keeping abilities, and significant upgrades, this Buchanan 34ft Timber Sloop really is something special. Professionally built by RJ Prior & Sons in England, its previous owners spent 12 years cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean. They then enjoyed a South Pacific cruise finishing in Queensland, where it was purchased by the current owner in 2006. The vessel then underwent a major restoration in Melbourne by Mike Hurrel Shipwrights. This included replacing 30% of the Mahogany planks with Iroko, replacing the galvanised iron floors with silicone bronze floor brackets, and 50% of the frames were also replaced. The current owner has also installed a NEW 2009 30HP Volvo Penta Diesel Engine, the topsides were professionally painted 2024, and NEW 2024 portlights have been installed. This capable and comfortable vessel could certainly continue to be utilised as a Bluewater Cruiser, but would also suit anyone looking for a stunning classic yacht for exploring the beautiful waters of Southern Tasmania, or could even be used as an economical liveaboard.

Stepping inside, the quality of the internal fitout really is exceptional. The timber work gleams and is complemented by the white finishes and classic fittings. There is a stunning central folding leaf dinette, with seating for 6 on the neatly upholstered settees. The galley is to port and features a 2 burner metho stove, stainless steel sink with manual freshwater pump, and icebox. The accommodation is ideal for family cruising with two single berths forward, two single settee berths, and a quarter berth aft. The package is complete with an electric toilet with holding tank in a private bathroom.

On deck the cockpit is deep and safe, ideal for offshore passages. It is also fully protected by a spray dodger and removable covers. The vessel is easily sailed single handed, proven by the fact the current owner completed a single handed Bass Strait Crossing, as well as many other single handed coastal passages. This is made easy with the autopilot, furling headsail, and mainsail in a boom bag. There is easy access around the side decks, and there is a manual anchor winch on the bow.

This vessel is powered by the NEW 2009 30HP Volvo Penta Diesel Engine. This has only approx 300hrs on the clock and presents in excellent condition. It provides easy cruising at 5 knots.

This capable vessel has been well maintained, and is ready for its next adventure. Whether that be in the channel, up the coast, or across an ocean, this vessel can do it all in safety and style. For more information please call Jo Breen on or Jack Allison on .
