Catalina 309 - WINGS

Designed by Gerry Douglas and built by Catalina Yachts in the USA, the 9.98m (OA) long Catalina 309 is one of the most successful models in the Catalina range. Spacious accommodation, easy handling and comfortable for coastal cruising, club racing, or weekends away. With roller furling head and main sails, the 309 makes an excellent short handed yacht.

Wings is a 2008 model, owned by the current owner since 2020, and in TRULY EXCELLENT CONDITION!

She comes complete with extensive original manuals and has only 438 hours on the frugal Yanmar shaft drive diesel engine. Both rigging and sails (Hood Sydney) have been renewed.

Her well-proportioned hull is low and sleek, while preserving full standing headroom inside. Her 3.51m beam allows a spacious, luxury interior that rivals many longer boats. The main saloon features 2 large couches and an extendable table, plus convenient chart table. The galley is well equipped with an upgraded Force 10 stove and oven, a sink, refrigerator, and plenty of storage. There are 2 double cabins, and the head area includes an electric flush toilet, shower and basin. There is TV/DVD, and a Fusion sound system including saloon and cockpit speakers.

The cockpit can be configured with full U shaped cushioned seating, or opened up to the walk through swim platform with boarding ladder (and there is a cockpit shower for the swimmers).

This is the go anywhere shallow draft version of the 309 (draft only 1.32m). The in-mast furling self tacking mainsail controlled from cockpit avoids the load of sail hauling or need to leave the cockpit, and the boom is above head height for safety. The Hood Triradial headsail is also roller furling. Full Raymarine electronics with 2 colour Chart Plotters fitted, along with a linked AIS Transponder and Autohelm for safety during coastal cruises. The 3 blade folding Flexofold prop provides optimal motoring and sailing performance.

Many upgrades have been made to this yacht. The electronics package including AIS, Autohelm, folding prop, renewed rudder and cutless shaft bearings, new dripless shaft seal, the oven, new bimini, new electric toilet, solar charging with Victron intelligent controller... The list goes on.

Currently located on the Gippsland Lakes system, leave her there to explore that wonderful area, or relocatable anywhere by sea or road.
