The Catalina 42 has proven to be a very enduring design, and the 42 MKII version takes the design to a new level. By leading in design, cruising performance, and comfort, the Catalina 42 has become the first choice of sailors worldwide. The hull is high volume, and easily driven, with a fine entry, firm midship section, and smooth run aft terminating in a modified reverse transom with a spacious and functional boarding platform. The Catalina 42 MKII deck was designed with shorthanded sailing in mind. All the halyards, the mainsheet, boom vang, topping lift and the main sail reefing controls are led to the cockpit, and placed to be operated from under the dodger when necessary. The wide weather decks and inboard shroud base make passage forward easy and secure. The twin bow rollers and below deck electric windlass greatly simplify anchor handling. As you will read below, considerable upgrades have been completed that will ensure she is fit for purpose for the coming cruising season. Coastal or offshore sailing, the choice is yours.

Up on deck the undercover cockpit with seating for eight around the fold down table is as you would expect from Catalina. Everything is well placed and large lockers soak up all the gear needed for cruising. Access of the aft end of cockpit to dinghy or water via the stainless steel ladder. Nice clean lines here and a good safe feel. Heading forward and down the companionway via the four timber treads you notice the build quality of this boat. Solid teak surround to doors and galley and quality teak finish to all bulkheads and tables. Teak and holly floor adds to her appeal. The galley (more fully described below) is to port and two way guests shower/head is to starboard, forward of the guests double cabin. U shaped saloon seating for for sevenish around a timber topped table is to port again with a second settee to starboard that will seat two with room for a third at a pinch. There are storage lockers above and behind the seating and racks for reading material throughout. Screens and blinds here as well. The side facing nav table with swing out seat and electronics at hand, are forward to starboard before moving through the access door into the owners stateroom where the double berth is to port with generous storage above and below the berth. Starboard side here is a small seat and a number of closed in storage lockers and draws with shelving above. Four large opening ports and one large deck hatch ensure the breeze flows freely. Forward again into the ensuite, the head is to port and vanity to starboard with shower forward again. Storage lockers aplenty for personal items and another big deck hatch over. There is an opening door forward to gain internal access to the anchor locker. The floor in the ensuite's is teak lift out panelling for ease of cleaning. Back through the saloon and through the galley you have access to the rear lazarette, storage lockers and engine.
