As per Sailing Magazine's review, the Catalina-Morgan 440 is a serious cruising boat. With a limited production run of only 60 boats, this is your unique opportunity to buy hull #33,"The Red Thread. " Live your blue water sailing dreams aboard Cruising World's 2005 Cruising Boat of the Year, a vessel neatly designed to enable you to chase any horizon. It is no wonder these vessels are highly sought after by serious sailors.
Purchased from the original owner in 2012, the current owners have cherished countless moments aboard this remarkable vessel. Her name is inspired by the ancient Chinese proverb of the invisible red thread that connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of distance or circumstance: bending, knotting, but never breaking. A beautiful metaphor for the people, places, and experiences she has woven into their lives.
The Red Thread was their floating home and their adventure vehicle to explore the world, visiting some of the most incredible islands, cultures, and wonders of the world, from as far north as British Columbia, Canada to as far south as Bruny Island, Tasmania. The Red Thread has been lovingly and meticulously maintained, and she has proven herself to be a safe, capable passage-maker time and time again.
The Red Thread carried the current owners over 20,000 nautical miles across the Pacific Ocean between 2014-2016, exploring 20 countries throughout North and Central America and the South Pacific with grace and seaworthiness that inspired confidence no matter the conditions. Here in Australia, she's crossed the Bass Strait twice, exploring SE Tasmania for four years before coming back to her current home on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. Overall, she boasts more than 40,000 nautical miles under her keel, a testament to her strength, design, and blue water cruising capabilities.
She is a steadfast companion in sun and storm, laughter, and reflection, tethering the threads of endless memories. CM440 owners are a tight knit, global community, with an active online owners' group (Facebook, and Mainsheet Magazine). It is the owners sincere hope that The Red Thread's next chapter with new owners brings as much joy and adventure as she has given to them.
For a glimpse into her spirit and sea-tested capability, please visit www. Svtheredthread. Com, where many of her adventures and stories have been chronicled (including a few published in sailing magazines). She's turnkey ready to sail toward many more horizons under your care.
The Red Thread has been a home on the water for its current owners but now they have moved ashore to raise a growing young family. Impeccably maintained with full logs and service history and a testament to the owners. She now calls Australia home, imported with all duties paid, she can stay here or sail her away. It is truly rare to find a boat of this calibre in this condition.
Take the helm in your hands, choose your destination, and set sail: go live your dream!
This is the yacht you have been waiting for.....
