Many people have described her as one of the prettiest Dragons on the water. If you don't mind receiving positive feedback both on and off the race course, then Intrigue might be the Dragon for you.
Intrigue is registered with the NSW Dragon Association, holds a current measurement certificate, and has recently competed in the Sydney Prince Philip Cup, and is currently racing on Lake Macquarie.
She was built in 1984 for the PPC in Geelong and was the first fibreglass Dragon out of the Ridgeway mould in Tasmania. As the Deluxe model she is complete with a fibreglass hull and a timber deck. I have copies of the original ads for the yacht and various newspaper articles over her life from launch through to now.
In 2016 a complete restoration was undertaken which saw her receive a new deck, restored or replaced beams, forward and aft bulkheads included to enhance safety, and a complete refit of the fixtures and fittings to replicate the class standard set by Petticrow. She was also stripped and repainted black with beautiful gold leaf stripe and name. No expense was spared in seeking to create a competitive dragon class yacht that represents the heyday of the class.
You may have seen her on display at that RSYS Vintage Cars and Classic Yachts show or at the Sydney Classic and Wooden Boats Festival at the National Maritime Museum.
Or it could have been on Sydney harbour racing in Dragon events or Division 3 where she won the Sydney Combined Clubs Winter Scratch and Handicap series in 2022.
She carries a full set of new North sails put on the boat for the 22/23 season, and has a wardrobe of older sails if required. The stays were also replaced as part of the restoration process and an on water cover keeps her safe as she rests at LMYC marina.
She comes with a registered Harbeck trailer with side boxes, electric brakes etc to enable you to attend Dragon regattas held in Victoria, Tasmania, and even Perth if you desire, where you can enjoy the company of a great group of sailors keen on the Dragon Class.
You may also like to compete in Europe by chartering a Dragon and sailing in fleets of up to 100, or maybe compete in International Interports if you are lucky enough to be a member at RSYS.
