Farr 11.6 Modified

This family owned Farr 11.6 is a very well known QLD yacht built in 1990 with the aim of winning races and still cruising in comfort. 'Outsider' is a previous winner of the Brisbane to Gladstone and Sydney to Southport Yacht Races. She has competed in the QLD IRC Championships recently placing 2nd in 2020 and 3rd in 2021. Outsider has a unique laminated beam and strengthened bulkhead anchoring the keelstepped alloy single spreader rig which is modified for inboard sheeting to match the high pointing ability of modern yachts. The rigging is Dyform uppers and lowers with dyneema backstay. The rig offers hounds, fractional and masthead spinnaker halyard set-ups. Outsider has an all North Sails carbon panel sail wardrobe of jibs from J1 to J3 and kevlar Genoa Staysail. She has an array of downwind sails from a New Norths A3 and symmetrical spinnakers. The sail inventory alone offers a vast amount of value to this boat.
The keel sections and wet areas have been longboarded for a very quick underwater profile and is dived on monthly for cleaning and inspections.
As per images she was hauled out and inspected, re sprayed with International Micron 66 and the rudder bearings inspected, greased and re-fitted.
The Farr 11.6's are a beautifully balanced boat to sail and forgiving at sea, this boat is no exception yet offers lighter weight and more performance but can be turned into cruising mode instantly. Outsider is IRC optimised with a rating of 1.009 and fitted with an IRC prodder for ease of setting asymetric sails. She weighs in at less than 5.5 tonne.

Powered by a Volvo D1-30 installed in 2013 with a Sail Drive two blade folding prop this boat motors very well and never lacks power. A full engine service and exhaust elbiow replacement was performed in January 2024. Fuel is in a custom built stainless tank under the settee. In 2023 all lexan windows were replaced with all new seals and 2 x new Harken deck hatches installed also. The cockpit offers high quality Andersen winches self tailers as primaries and cabin top for halyards. She has a full eutectic fridge and gas stove in the galley with stainless sink and flick mixer. Equipped with an ICOM HF, GME DSC VHF, Raymarine Chart Plotter and Instruments everythng is in it's place and easy to use. The fitout is warm with teak interior and floor inlay. Coupled with dacron lee cloths at sea. Once you sail this boat it always surprises in all conditions and brings a lot of fun to your life.
