The Farr 9.2 was designed by world renowned naval architect Bruce Farr. The design brief was for a performance racer/cruiser with a good turn of speed and well-appointed interior for coastal cruising.

The design was an evolution and refinement of the successful Farr 1020 and the 11.6. Upwind performance and initial stability were both improved with a higher ballast ratio. Even by today's standards, with a good suite of sails, the Farr 9.2 can hold its own around the buoys against the newer more modern designs.

The design proved to be very successful and led to the formation of The Farr 9.2 Association of Australia (http://farr92. Asn. Au/). The objective of the Association is to promote the Farr 9.2 yacht as a one-design class throughout Australia, and to achieve racing under uniform class rules. There are currently around a dozen 9.2's that are competitively raced on the Swan River with an annual Metro Series and State Championship up for grabs.

Whether you're into racing or just fast cruising the Farr 9.2 delivers in both departments. With a large spacious cockpit there is plenty of room for a full crew and ample space for entertaining. And with all running rigging lead aft to the coach house roof, the design is easily sailed shorthanded. A walk-through transom with a removable board gives easy access to the swim platform.

Seahawk was professionally built by Hitech yachts in Henderson, WA. Hitech yachts had a great reputation for their sophisticated approach to boat building. Every yacht was built to comply with the American Bureau of Shipping Standards. They utilized some of the best materials available including Derakane viny-ester on the exterior of the hulls.

The interior is light and spacious for a yacht of this size. Accommodation is well catered for with a double berth forward (cushions are currently in storage), two singles in the saloon, and another double in the aft port quarter. The interior cabinet work is of a high standard and there is a generous amount of storage space.

Seahawk is powered by a reliable 15hp Nanni diesel engine with only 580 hours on the clock. An Autostream feathering prop reduces drag while sailing and produces excellent thrust while motoring.

The mast is hinged and can be lowered to clear the bridges, unleashing the potential for weekends at Rottnest or some coastal cruising. The mast lowering setup, arguably the best available, utilizes two poles and a car that slides up the track in the mast. This system provides great lateral support for the mast.

Seahawk has been very well maintained by her current owner. She has been upgraded regularly to keep her competitive and is raced weekly on the river. She has competed ten times in the State Championships for the Farr 9.2's and achieved some great results in this very competitive class.
